The service industry would lose over 25-30% of there workforce and that is a low estimate IMO.
These are people that wash dishes, cut grass, clean offices, build homes, construct commercial buildings. Wash your car, cook food, run the hotel work force jobs. Pick your crops, produce your poultry, mill your carpets and textiles. I am aware of what low end jobs are; I've worked plenty in my life.
This is slippery slope. Enforicing law is in no way "a slippery slope". If you are so passionate about it, then see how many congressmen will pass a law saying anyone can immigrate here at any time. You will have zero takers. These immigrants have been here for 10-30 years Are you not aware of the 5,000,000 illegal aliens that Biden/ Harris invited in to our country? they've been here for an hour and a half; and are going back. doing these jobs and they for the most part only want to earn a living and send money back home. I am sympathetic to that; but that is no excuse to break the law. So anyone can break any law as long as they have a good sob story? No. They pay social security tax and payroll tax that will never be collected.
Finally, these small businesses are run by conservative entrepreneurs Not Always and employ a large % of the workforce in the middle management and leadership roles. These middle and upper management roles are supported by front line immigrants that came here illegally. This is a wild generalization. My firm is certainly not. Also, it is simply not relevant - get out! Come in legally. Or pay Americans American wages. You cannot simultaneously say you support workers while you flood the country with illegals.
This is a big problem that needs a solution. While it may not shut down our economy in full if all the immigrants that came on a travel visa or temporary work visa that expired or just came across the border illegally 15-20 years ago and they never went home.
Don’t kid yourself, you want to see cost or wage increase spiral out of control, send them all home. Ag workers will be allowed to convert to H2A as will many others. They're here; so we'll convert them. But we need a constitutional amendment that they can never become citizens and their kids can never become citizens. Otherwise, get rid of them all.
There has to be a process to get them legal. lol - no there doesn't. Again, I am not talking about the ones who have come across in the last 36-48 months. These people are now part of communities and society. They keep there head down and work. Obama already did DACA and DReamers. We are good at this point. If I wanted to live in Mexico, with Mexican people and Mexican values, I'd move there. But I don't.
If they break the law or commit fraud, violent crime, send them packing but this is not that simple. IMO
