First Post

I’ve been a member here for years and came to this site from another site because of the respect I developed for the beat writers on social media. I have never posted on here, mainly because I can’t figure out how to change my username to something less descriptive, but am on here daily reading articles and threads. Anyway, I’m a double dawg who fully bleeds red and black and here are my thoughts on tonight and one of the more weird seasons I can remember.

I of course want to win every game and think we could, or should, have won this one, but this entire season was weird. Little of it made any sense, or maybe it did…I dunno. However, with the schedule this year and in light of the tragic events this week, I’ll take another trip to Jacksonville with my friends that ended with another win, an incredible night game win against Tennessee in Sanford, two wins against Texas, another SEC title, and Kirby as my coach.

I don’t like how today went, am not here to make excuses for it, and I think some changes are needed. I really hope they come. However, I’ve learned to not take seasons like this for granted either. (I was in Memphis for the loss against Central Florida in the rain in 2010 and the last two SEC championship games under Richt. I’ve hurt a lot too.) Anyway, after the Ole Miss loss, things felt really bleak. I am incredibly proud of how we responded and what we did in Atlanta a few weeks ago and will be channeling that feeling as I pour one final glass of bourbon for my Dawgs this season. How sweet it is.

Kirby - Press Conference

2 turnovers and a kick returned for a touchdown. Kirby pointed to this multiple times in his comments as the difference in the game. He also stopped to acknowledge two absolute DAMN GOOD DAWGS in #69 and # 11 at the end of the post game press conference. No real excuses, just facts. This year was a challenge but ultimately I trust Kirby to make the moves to put us right back in this position next year.

There is a season

For harvesting and one for pruning. Georgia did a little harvesting this season. An SEC Championship shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Now it’s time for some pruning.

From pruning comes growth and then more harvesting.

Dawgs will grow and be back and better soon.

This is true in our lives as well. God is good. Bless all of you guys and, as always, GO DAWGS!

Our OL this year

At the end of the day, costs us today. GS wasn’t bad but not championship worthy. At the end of the day, our inability to run the football was the main issue. We run the ball, we win games. We actually won in spite of this. CB won games in spite of our inability to run the ball. We fix that, we are much better offensively. Need to figure out who the qb will be next year. Could be GS. I’m extremely curious to see what RP will do. Either way, need to figure out the run scheme and ol.

In your opinion what was some of the creative or innovative play calling during the year….

I’m sure I am missing something but I can’t think of anything other than the fake punt against Texas. I just didn’t see any creativity or innovation of scheming receivers open at all. It seemed like every pass to our receivers was a 50/50 ball…..rarely seeing a receiver wide open or uncontested. We were next to last in the SEC in rushing the football. Not many boot leg play action or misdirection plays. I’m sure I’m overlooking something but watching this offense was like a dreaded trip to the dentist to me. Frustrating….I think we need to be able to run the ball better and that starts up front. We need to throw the ball when we want to….not when we have to. Creativity and the timing of certain plays being called is an art. Some people have that gift and some don’t. We weren’t nearly as talented as we were in the past, but I surely didn’t think we helped ourselves either in play calling to score points. Nothing at all seemed easy for this offense……everything seemed hard and it was trudgery to score. We scored 7 or less points in the first half of 8 of our games. Hard to survive that over and over. Here’s to a better 2025 season…..Go Dawgs!!

If Texas wins the CFPNC

Will you, as a Dawg fan, consider them the true National Champs?

Petty April won't 😅😅

I rarely post after a game, especially a loss, because there are lots of emotions writing these sentences tonight.
Just wanted to say that I'm proud of this team for this season. With EVERYTHING that's happened over the last 5 months, losing players, injuries, crazy comebacks...all of it. They've done more with less this year than I ever thought they would. I'm disappointed, sure, and I imagine there will be some changes made in many aspects but one thing I don't doubt is we have the best at the helm. No one loves UGA more.

Maybe I'm a little Disney but I'd like to think I'm just being positive. The sun will come up tomorrow and I'll still love the Dawgs....and most of y'all 😅

Which player or position group actually got better this year?

One of the most shocking and worrying parts of this season is the total team regression. I can’t think of one player or position on the team that actually got better this season (outside of Jalon Walker). Defense, offense, and special teams (especially tonight) seem to have regressed exponentially. I’m not sure how this gets addressed across multiple position groups.

ND shouldn't have even had the CHANCE to score their 2 TDs

  1. Sack fumble (which lead to the short TD) - run it/take a knee and go to halftime.
  2. Kickoff return - kick it deep/out of the EZ and there is no return.
Not being a revisionist and talking hypotheticals - ND deserved to win. They outplayed/outcoached us. But we absolutely gave them the 14 pts that decided the game (and if we're not down 2 scores, we likely kick a FG towards the end).

Just a weird feeling this year..

It was also a weird season. One of the worst feelings as a sports fan is seeing one of your favorite teams seasons come to an end. I admittedly was much more upset last year when we lost to Bama and knew we’d get left out. That team was still one of the best and could have easily won 3 in a row.

I have a weird feeling this year because I never once this year thought we were the best team. At one point there was never a clear best team in the country but I think we were carried by the championship culture our program has built. It’s hard to beat Georgia even if we aren’t the better team simply because we don’t quit or give up and we give hell for four quarters. With that said this team had major flaws that we haven’t seen in 3-4 years.

When Beck went down we were at a major disadvantage. While Gunner was not the reason we lost and he played his ass off today, anytime you are down to your backup it’s highly unrealistic just to to expect to go out there and win a national championship in these circumstances. I’m eager to see what is next and see the program make some necessary adjustments.

Go Dawgs! There is nothing to hang our heads about. Winning another SEC Championship won’t be forgotten.

Punt team substitution rule

It looked like on TV CKS was saying to the refs that they can’t do that. He was referring to the mass substitution not something that drew us offsides. He seemed pretty confident that something wasn’t allowed. What’s the rule there? The only thing I could think he may be questioning is when the punt team ran off the offense was running onto the field of play too making it difficult for us to sub appropriately since two units were on the field at the same time. Anyone know the rule there? Obviously it was allowed and got us, but I find it hard to believe CKS didn’t know a rule because you could read his lips saying they can’t do that

Could we have caused delay of game on punt substitution?

When I saw it live, I was confused why we were sprinting on full speed to change personnel. Notre Dame ran off its full punt squad and the offense didn’t get set until 14 seconds left on the play clock.

Since they subbed and we are given adequate time to respond, couldn’t we have slow played it and caused Notre Dame to take a delay of game or call a TO? This wasn’t one or two guys we’d have to account for, it was a full personnel change.

I’m not a rules expert, but I’ve definitely seen late substitutions by the offense cause them to take a delay of game or waste a TO because the sub doesn’t afford the defense enough time to respond.

If you’d like to rewatch it, it occurs with 8:00 left in the 4th.

At the very least, we should have either called a TO or called their bluff that they’d actually snap it (I have no doubt they only wanted to draw us off and were never planning to snap it until Jalon jumped).

Warched with my family - my dad…

Who would rather watch a movie than watch sports* - was incredulous on the officiating. He knows football just doesn’t watch sports (thankfully, he went to South Carolina…my mom is diehard Dawg and went to Georgia along with all my aunts and uncles).
Anyway, he wrote an uncharacteristic text to our family group saying he was appalled at the officiating. Obviously the no calls on the roughing the punter but also the PI’s…but especially all the no called holds. I think the hold on Jackson on Riley’s first down run got him going.
It was interesting because he’s usually not that interested. But he does get upset when he thinks
people are being wronged.

*He is an incredible athlete - just rather play than watch. Even at 77 years old plays pick up soccer with young guys - mostly foreigners - and runs with them - he started playing soccer in his 60’s.

How in the WORLD

Are there already posts saying we have no feasible QB for next year? Y’all ready to write Gunner off after his FIRST CAREER START where he played pretty darn well given the circumstances? Y’all have lost y’alls minds lol.

Does he look like he has the potential to be Stetson Bennett? Probably not. You can’t argue he certainly showed potential though. Just think if our WR and LT played well. He would have looked even better.

Gunner wasn’t in the top 10 of reasons why we lost. Turnovers, special teams, and penalties is your top 3.

*Side note to really get y’all going - I would have LOVED to see what type of package Todd Monken would have dialed up for Gunner over the last 2 weeks.

Go Dawgs!
