CFP - no incentive to play tough games

I want to start by saying this is just the first year. It took college hoops many years to develop their RPI and Quadrant system to encourage teams to play more demanding schedules. Look at Bama's OOC this year to see how successful that has been. So, we can give the Committee a break as they are so used to just looking at wins and losses. But, with conference realignment, the vast disparities between the P2 and other P4/G5 teams, and divisionless football, clearly they have to look at some type of index to make sure that teams play some level of good competition.

The video below is a pretty good summary of the problem. A couple of other examples:

- Clemson lost to UGA, USCjr, and just once in the ACC. Why would they continue to schedule SEC schools? Had they scheduled GaSouthern instead of UGA, they would easily be in the Top 10 and likely in the field whether they won or not.

- We have years where we play multiple OOC and also the Nerds. Why would we honor those schedules? Especially when the SEC has done such a horrible job with balanced schedules.

- You can kiss the 9 game IC schedule good-bye. Not going to happen in the SEC where you have 8 more losses guaranteed. Also, did you know that the B1G only started 9 IC games in 2016? And the PAC and B12 only started it in 2010-ish because they had fewer teams and a round-robin made more sense. So, their constant whining about the 8 v. 9 games is disingenuous, at best. Welcome to the 1-7-7 schedule. How much do you want to bet when they reset that they screw us, and Texas gets an easy schedule again.

Anyway, here is the video:

Just talked to a B1G fan about some of their championship game tickets going for 12 dollars....

He tried to play it off that it was because of the two teams playing. We're talking about a perennial top 10 team with two championship game appearances in the last fifteen years and a blue blood program. With a straight face he said PSU isn't a big draw. They are literally one of a handful of programs that has a stadium that seats over 100,000 fans.

Texas's win at A&M was a "nice" win, on

the road against an above average, but certainly not great team in a renewed rivalry.

But, I'm trying to understand why some talking heads are using it to suggest Texas is really peaking at the right time, have it rolling now, etc.

17-7, outscored 7-0 in the second half, though they did have a substantial yardage advantage.

I feel confident in saying that had Georgia won that game in that manner, very few people here or nationally would be pumping us up.

Post of the Day Anybody else just get the email from Radi about the 'New Premium UGA Board' launching 1/1/25...?

My wallet is getting milked like UGA getting squeezed by a high-profile QB recruit, but some of these benefits do look appealing for an extra $29.99/mo:
  • the new board is closed during UGA games until the beginning of the 4th quarter
  • in its place during gametimes, no-wait online access to mental health professionals to complain about slow starts, dropped passes, and play calls
  • AI-powered database automatically bumps idiotic hot takes
  • gentle reminders when you're about to post a question that has already been answered by @Anthony Dasher in a story pinned at the top of the board
  • new 'preference center' allows posters to not only ignore other posters, but filter posts including specific words like 'Bobo,' 'Searels,' (and 'Searles'), and 'sharps'
  • a gambling tab where posters can bet on/against UGA (where legal) and see public/professional money flow + corresponding line movement in real-time
  • an anti-gambling tab where people can converse about how nobody cares about gambling
  • on your birthday, you get to pick a poster who has to hear the 'Spell Georgia!' cheer every time they open a post
  • prayer requests are emailed directly to Him (a subscriber, obviously)
  • personal text updates from staff every single time...
    • a recruit changes his (or her) mind
    • @WinderDad80 posts a reverse jinx
    • @Togwo tells the board to trust the coaches
plus these fringe benefits:
  • framed posts by @DawgGoesWoof and @namic promising that UGA will never win a natty without true 5-star WRs or an offense led by a savant like Lincoln Riley or Ryan Day (signed by @DeniseBennett )
  • the perfect holiday gift: a page-a-day calendar with @DonutDawg 's Top 365 reasons to hate Auburn every day
  • (Radi said a Ladies of the Vent calendar was nixed in part when participants all wanted Nico Iamaleava money)
  • a guaranteed table at American Whiskey on all gamedays @nyc.robbie
Unfortunately, no changes yet to the actual number of pop-up ads until the $99.99/mo board arrives in 2029...

How aggressive will each offense be?

To me, this is the most fascinating component of Saturday's game.

Seven combined turnovers in the first matchup, which is ultimately a big reason why Texas lost (that and their OL got absolutely embarrassed by Walker, Williams, and Wilson). Will Sark be willing to take shots early, or will he opt to be more run-heavy to try and negate our pass rush?

Conversely, Texas is averaging a whopping 25 PPG away from DKR. I have no idea if this is the case but I would imagine our D staff/players know they can handle the Texas offense - so, does Bobo play more conservative early so as not to give Texas any unnecessary scoring opportunities? Especially considering Carson threw 3 picks in Round 1...

I thought Bobo did an outstanding job of walking that line against Tennessee, so hopefully we see more of that Saturday.
