If it comes down to it, We have the best two losses in the sec log jam…(it’s sad. I’m having to rate losses.)

Losing a close game against a good team on the road is the best a loss can be.

Our loss to ole Miss wasn’t close. Bama lost to Vandy who isn’t good. Tennessee lost to Arkansas who isn’t good and the loss to Georgia wasn’t close. Ole Miss lost to Kentucky at home who isn’t good and to LSU who isn’t good.

Extra Georgia notes following the Georgia 93-45 win over Alabama A&M

Dash should have a story out briefly

--- one other thing... I noticed that the PA Announcer called Somto Cyril - "The Real Deal" Cyril a few times - I would like it if they called him "Dreams" Cyril .... just a thought

  • The 48-point win was Georgia’s largest margin of victory since November 10, 2006 when they defeated Southern by 60 points (97-37)
  • The 45 points scored by Alabama A&M was Georgia’s fewest allowed by a Mike White team
  • Alabama A&M came into Tuesday’s game averaging 99.5 points per game including 3 games over 100 points
  • Georgia has scored 90+ points in 3 straight home games (the last time the Bulldogs did that was the first three home games of the 2019-20 season
  • Georgia is shooting 49.3 from the field after 5 games – The Bulldogs had a 38.4 FG pct through 5 games last season
  • Georgia had 17 offensive rebounds (one away from the most under Mike White
  • Georgia had 16 steals in the game for the first time since having 20 vs South Carolina Upstate on November 14, 2008

Tyrin Lawrence – his 6 steals was one away from a Georgia record (7 times a Georgia player had 7 with the last being by Billy Humphrey in 2007)

He is the first SEC player this season to have 10+ pts, 5+ ast, 5+ stl in a game

And the first Georgia player with those numbers since J.J. Frazier on December 29, 2016 at Auburn

Asa Newell – has shot 50 FG% in all 5 of his games so far (7/8 on Tuesday)

Has had multiple blocks or steals in every game this season

Somto Cyril – had career-highs in points (11) and rebounds (9)

After his 3 blocks on Tuesday, he now has 10 on the season tying him with Asa Newell for team lead

Silas Demary Jr – ties his career-high with 4 steals (had 4 steals in first 4 games entering Tuesday

Dakota Leffew – 3/8 on 3-pt FG on Tuesday after 0/6 on 3-pt FG on Friday at Georgia Tech

Who are we fans of this weekend?

- Army over ND
- Whoever wins the IU v. tOSU game needs to do it in a blowout ... I mean 55-7 type thing.
- Minnesota over PSU
- Wake Forest over Miami
- ASU over BYU

If you want Armageddon in the SEC:

- OU over Bama
- MSU over Mizzou (we want Mizzou to lose out)
- Auburn over TAMU (followed by TAMU over Texas)
- UF over OM

What else?

Looking at the JR Class, assume most come back at this point........

ETN - see no reason why we shouldn't push with NIL to get him to come back 1 more year.
Evertt - developed into a solid corner, see no reason for him not to come back
Walker - gone as he should be
Delp - back
Williams - gone as he should be
Thomas - back
Starks - back at Starting Safety, similar to ETN
Cash - solid 3rd down back
Farchild - should develop into a started on OL
Wilson - starting Center or guard
Morris - Starting guard
Rateledge - surprised he is still listed as a JR, would love for him to come back but not sure. Might be ready to move on to NFL
Grenne - I figure he comes back at this point with NIL as his stock has dropped, perhaps move down to guard, not sure. NIL $ might get him back
Dillon Bell - solid career, would love him back at WR
Ingram -Dawkins - hopefully NIL can get him back for 1 more year, solid DL for sure

One item I like about NIL is using it on possible late draft picks to come back for 1 more year - ETN, Everett, Starks, Greene, Bell and Ingram Dawkins all fit into that category. Getting those guys back and finding / developing a QB makes up a top tier SEC team in 2025.

UPDATE UGA a top-3 finalist for Kevin Wynn

Got a text today about in-state DL Kevin Wynn. Georgia has been in contact with Wynn a lot lately. Kirby Smart and Tray Scott were at his game against Lake Oconee Academy on Oct. 25 when I was there. Communication has been steady throughout the entire process with the four-star. Knowing Wynn personally, he’s been confused. He’s seen the fall of Florida State, and schools like USC, Texas, and South Carolina have recently stepped more into the picture. However, his final three are the Bulldogs, Seminoles, and Gamecocks. He’s had a long-standing relationship with Mike Norvell and his staff. Scott has always kept Georgia in the picture as well. Shane Beamer is pushing hard for Wynn. The Gamecocks just offered his teammate Steve Miller, who recently flipped from Mississippi State to USC. However, Beamer has two local brothers from Putnam County on his roster — Jalon and Gerald Kilgore. Wynn, Miller, and the Kilgore brothers grew up playing against each other and are tight. I’ve also been told that people in Wynn’s circle should “stay home” and be Bulldog.

Interestingly, he’s never been to a regular season game at Sanford Stadium. He was in Athens for G-Day and returned for an official visit in June. Now, his high school team is out of the playoffs, giving him time to think. He’s already been to Tallahassee and Columbia this year. I’ve heard there’s a rumor of him getting to Athens, a 40-minute drive from his home, either this weekend or next Friday.

If that happens, I think there’s a solid chance he flips to Georgia. However, I can also see him sticking to his commitment to FSU. With him, football is a means to help him afford to go to culinary school and start his own restaurant. It will be an interesting ride with this one over the next two weeks.

Wynn will enroll early wherever he ends up.

Not to be too much of a cynic re: the committee…

But only one “ranking” actually matters. The last one.

Right now, this is nothing more than an effort to sell advertising - just as in years past (with a smaller field). They set aside an hour of programming to reveal what could be accomplished with a press release posted on Twitter. It has to be somewhat controversial, otherwise it won’t get as many eyeballs. And the ad buys won’t generate as much in that case.

So now a whole bunch of people carp and moan about it - and will reliably hate watch it next week. It’s a scheme - and a successful one.

Just let the thing breathe. The season is not ending today. The rankings reflect what the field would be if it was seeded today. But it is not being seeded today. Or next week. Or the week after.

If you think these rankings are nonsense, then stop watching the show. Viewership is what creates this incentive for controversy.

Going into some really tough games this weekend we need to

clean up the careless turnovers. You never see very good teams with more than 10 tos per game. Free throws are also a concern as we are going to be in a lot of close games from here on out and fts will be huge in those games. All of our guards should shoot 75% or better. And Asa has to good a stroke not to be over 70%.
