I've a got a Pseudo Luckeye friend with an interesting/stupid take on scheduling...

He's always on a rant against the SEC. Today his issue with the SEC is that we schedule cupcake games in November. His take is that all cupcake games should be scheduled in the first 4 weeks similar to preseason games. He says we should just take a bye week and not play these games.

I told him he was an idiot and now I have to add scheduling as another reason why his conference rarely wins a Natty.

CFP 1st Round TV Time Slots

Curious to get everyone’s best guess around how the CFP will setup the time slots for the first round of playoff games. As I’m sure most are aware, there's one game at 8pm on Fri 12/20, and then the 12 noon / 4pm / 8pm triple header the following day.

Unless I've missed it, I have not seen how these time slots will be divided up between the 8 first round teams. Little hard to speculate without knowing the seeding, but how would you rank the four TV slots in terms of value (highest to least). IMO, I'd guess:

1. Sat 12/21 8pm
2. Fri 12/20 8pm
3. Sat 12/21 4pm
4. Sat 12/21 12p

Worth noting that the 12 noon and 4p games are on TNT, and there are two (good) NFL games on 12/21 at 1pm and 430, so a little bit of competition for eyeballs. So the two 8pm games would not have that hurdle. What will be interesting is how the games shake out, depending on rankings. Is the 5 vs 12 automatically in the noon slot? Does the "most competitive" game get the prime spot? I know we will find out in a few weeks, and I'm sure at the end of the day, ratings projections will drive the decision, but fun to think about the possibilities. It would be the ultimate twist of irony to host a playoff game and the 12 noon slot...

Bulldog Bob

@bulldogbob - I just wanted to thank you for your post last week! Like so many here, I was in the dumps after the Ole Miss game. Your post, was a great lift to me and our Bulldog Nation!!! Our team was exactly as you described and let’s get these next two games and let’s see what happens! Thank you again for the encouragement!! I needed it!!! 🤦🏼‍♂️ Go Dawgs!!!

12th man call

What keeps teams on defense from taking their time, and thereby drain the play clock, after a substitution? For the offense is there signal from the referees when they can snap the ball? I feel there is some ambiguity here. You have to let the defense sub, but the defense cannot stall until the play clock runs out.

Heupel was histrionic about that call, but there were 12 on D when we snapped. I just don’t see how he could be so indignant.
