Call reversal was a blessing in disguise

Best thing that could have happened for us. At the time it pissed me off to no end, but in hindsight Texas cant play the “what if” card and claim they were robbed. We had to rise to the occasion and overcome adversity and left no doubt on who won. Kirby is fired up. The fans are fired up. There should be a monster chip on this team’s shoulder moving forward. Run the table and leave no doubt, GATA!

Kirby made a bad decision to go for it on fourth…..

down late in the game. It gave Texas a very short field; the way our defense was playing, especially number 11 and number 13, punting in that situation is the right call every time; make Texas go the long route for the score and use up most of the two minutes left in the game. I’m sure Kirby learned from that.

What happened on the kickoff that was a squib kick? It didn’t look like a called onside kick.

Let’s compare the PI reversal to call reversals in other sports.

Umpire calls out the batter on strike three. Next batter gets s announced and comes to the plate. Crowd boos and throws things on the field. Umpire calls time and confers with the referee crew and then announces he was wrong on strike three and awards the first batter first base.

That has NEVER happened.

My thoughts on the game (the BS aside)

1) Our kicking game was elite last night. Thorson's first punt flipped the field and was huge. Woodring quietly nails all 3 FGs and is 12 of 13 on the year, with his only miss from +50 yards.
2) I'm not sure what was done in practice before this game, but our tackling overall was much better.
3) That 3rd and 10 from our own eleven throw to Smith was a thing of beauty from Beck. Colossal momentum swing back to the Dawgs with that throw.
4) Love to see Cole and Thomas come into that game in that spot and not miss a beat. That is another huge piece moving forward.
5) For those that were there, was the crowd ever "SEC loud"? On the broadcast, it never seemed to have much an impact.
6) We beat the #1 team on the road by 15, overcame obstacles I have never seen before in a football game and still have so much we can improve on. Them DAWGS gonna be HELL. Let's EAT!

Special teams were special tonight ...

Thor, God of Thunder from Down Under:

4 punts, average of 54 yards with a long of 58. Think about that. 1 touch-back, 2 inside the 20. Let's remember that in 3 years he has had one punt that was even attempted to be returned - lost 4 yards. That means he kicks it really high and long. Total Stud.

Woodring is automatic. 3/3 long of 48. None in doubt. Let's work on that kick-off.

Anthony Evans - 3 returns - KO and P - 32 yards, including an 11 and and 19 yarder.

I can’t sleep. Dawgs did something to me tonight.

All year long I have been saying to my gf that I just haven’t been having fun this season. This team has felt nothing at all like the 21,22, or 23 teams. This team has just felt like a sloppier , underprepared and just a disappointing version of UGA football. Every Saturday I have just walked away feeling gross. I guess I have become spoiled to this standard of excellence that Kirby has set in our program. Tonight was truly the first time all season that I had fun watching the Dawgs. Kirby reminded me that he’s still the Kang. It may sound stupid but I can’t even sleep I’ve just been so excited. This year has been a tough and draining year for me personally I’ve come down with a lot of health issues and UGA football is one of the main things that bring joy to my life. And it’s been tough sledding this year. It’s sucked watching our team so far until tonight. I just wanna thank Kirby and the boys for tonight they made this ole dawg fan very happy.
