Kirby and the crowd noise…

I give our fans a little more credit than just being a wine and cheese crowd who sit on their hands. UGA fans have shown that they can, and will, turn out for the Dawgs in games big and small.

The 2024 version of Georgia has yet to reveal itself. You can’t fault fans for being a little afraid of investing in a team that truly shat the bed for a half last week. We’ve seen enough already this season to suggest, just maybe, that this team has more gaps than any other Kirby team since 2016… and, our success has spoiled us to the point that greatness is the expectation, now.

Too, this team doesn’t have that marque player like so many of its recent past. No name teams can be very good but very hard to become impassioned over. Fans may have a difficult time identifying with this particular squad.

Maybe the true potential of this team is revealed in Austin in a couple of weeks, or when we host Tennessee, or if we progress and become the hot team in the playoffs. Maybe a star emerges on some miraculous play somewhere, somehow.

I’m old enough to remember the 1983 Dawgs… the season after Herschel left. There was a sad mixture of malaise and nostalgia settling in with the fan base. We didn’t know quite what to do without #34. All of a sudden, we were without the greatest weapon in the history of football. The National Championship had been within our grasp for the last 3 years and no one thought UGA would be a contender that year.

There was a tie at Clemson early and a late season loss to Auburn at home with another #34 in a white jersey running up and down our field. The season pretty much validated the lowered expectations for Georgia.

The true identity of that Dawg team wasn’t known until a 10-9 postseason win over Texas in the old Cotton Bowl. The entire season, it seems, turned out to be a buildup to a big reveal party in Dallas.

I don’t fault Kirby. He’s having to coach this team harder. Leaders haven’t emerged. But, if the fans are expected to patiently wait until this team reveals itself, don’t fault them for doing so a little quieter and a little less sure.

The game and the play will come. The character will debut and fans will flock to buy his jersey. We’ll tell that story for the rest of our lives.

Like Kirby, we fans just don’t know when.

Great day to be an American.....

Down goes Bama and the Nortwestern wanna be, welcome to the South Washington transplant. You thought you were playing Oregon State yesterday...made my effing weekend. Double Chin up in Knoxville exposed once again for who he is as well, Mizzou too! What a weekend!

We have our issues as well, let's revamp our whole offensive identity this offseason , make the tough calls and the sky is the limit.

Remember, all great CEO"s surround themselves around people who are as smart and usually smarter than they are, that's why Sabanis the Goat.

We are truly blessed with living not only the greatest planet on the face of the earth, but the greats region of the United States. Kids are are and have been flocking the northeast and west coast to our southern school, can t blame them , you sure as hell don't see our kids flocking to Seton Hall, Rutgers or left coast mental
Asylums. Stand tall and proud the next 45 days, our culture will never be altered by any outsides forces. DAWGS shall preserve !

Parking options for friend going through chemo

Hey guys and gals! Hoping someone will have some insight here.

My BFF has been fighting Stage 4 breast cancer for about 13 years. She truly is a walking miracle. We usually come to one or two home games each year, and we’ve been fortunate that she has felt good enough to go during that time. Well, she just started a new chemo regimen, and the fatigue is kicking her butt. We were planning on going to the Miss State game this weekend, but I worry about her getting to and from the stadium. I looked up disability parking, and since she doesn’t have a state issued placard, that doesn’t seem to be an option.

Should I just drop her as close to the stadium as possible and park wherever I can, or is something like Uber an option? I can walk however long I need to…I just don’t want her to have to do the same!

Thanks, y’all!

Thoughts on crowd noise…

Yes, the crowd was off, but let’s look deeper into why.
  • Georgia was coming off an emotional loss to Bama. A game we seemed unprepared to play the first 30 minutes. We finally woke up the second half only to have our hearts ripped out at the end. The fans we’re emotionally spent
  • The pregame and in-game production borders on high school level quality. Our pregame videos and songs seem like we’re welcoming visitors for a good time as opposed to setting the tone for a fight. The in-game production is worse. Outside of the fourth quarter light up Sanford, do we do anything to fire the crowd? We don’t have a set rotation of songs the crowd participates in. Bama has like five. Speaking of Bama, I was talking to a lifelong Dawg fan, and he took his high school age son to Tuscaloosa last week. The ingame production was so much better, he said he lost his son to Bama. The kid had such a better time even though his team lost. Our pregame and ingame production is stale and boring.
  • Speaking of boring, it describes our play-especially on the offensive side of the ball. After an incompletion on first down, even my wife knows a run up the middle is coming. Start making some electric plays with our electric players (I assume we have some based on our recruiting), and the crowd will cheer.
  • Our third down conversion went from one of the best in the country to middle of the pack. Start converting on third downs, and the crowd will be into the game more. No one outside his family comes to see the punter.
  • The speed and physicality of the defense is missing this year. We miss more tackles than I can ever remember, and we can’t cover a WR even if we have 15 men on the field. Where are the negative plays? Where are the sacks? Where are the bone crushing tackles? Where are the turnovers? Create those, and the fans will make some noise.
  • The penalties this year are killing momentum for the team and the crowd. It seemed like every big play yesterday had me scanning the field for a yellow hanky. Clean up the penalties, and the crowd will be in it more.
  • The kids are no longer playing for the love of the game. Several are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you pay me thousands of dollars, I’ll be happy to yell my guys out.
  • Yes, the crowd made the most noise during the Vandy highlights. They were excited to see someone finally beating Bama; something we are unable to regularly do. Start beating Bama, and the crowd will make noise.
Yes, the crowd was off, but my question is “What are you doing to make the crowd loud and engaged?”

Good Morning Dawg Nation

A win against a rival is always good.
Obviously it wasn't the win the Vent wanted. Trying to moderate wasn't fun but it comes with the territory...lol

I won't comment too much other than say, I consider myself a fairly positive person, or at least I strive to be. I don't "stay off the Vent" during the game because I offered to help so I do. But boy can this place bring you down. It's obvious some of yall weren't cheerleaders in high school. You cheer loud win you win and you cheer louder when you lose people 😅😅 L*G. I love y'all!

I'm going to enjoy the win, enjoy Bama and 10RC's losses and enjoy this beautiful Sunday the Lord has made! Let's make some plans for next weekend 😁

Praying for all those on LDGMDNOPL
and all the GMDN gang too!

Happy Birthday/Anniversary if you're celebrating today 🎉🎉

Love you guys and gals, MEAN IT.....

Go Dawgs ❤️

5 Games In

We aren’t yet who we thought we’d be. Lack consistency on both sides of the ball. We’ve shown glimpses of being elite and glimpses of WTF.

If we tighten up our personnel at key positions and get healthy, we SHOULD be able to win out and finish the regular season at 11-1. Not AS concerned about a Texas offense that’s more “traditional”.

Here’s who I’d like to see get more/most snaps moving forward.

TE: Luckie, as many as he can handle
WR: Lovett, Bell, Humphries, Evans, Young
OL: Greene, Fairchild, Wilson, Tate, Freeling
RB: Etienne & Frazier almost exclusively

Use tempo on offense, be aggressive and open up the run. Keep the D fresh by moving the chains on O.

D: Tackle better, better angles on ball carriers, DB’s finding the ball in the air to make a play on it, more havoc plays. Malaki to STAR? Dan, KJ, Malaki.

Sometimes it’s better to simplify things and let your best players go be athletes.

Go Dawgs!

Shoutout to Mykel..

I don’t know if you can see it on TV or not but he can barely walk on the sidelines. He is giving it his all to play on these 3rd down packages right now and help the team how he can.

Everyone likes to complain about NIL and how guys care less now but this is the exact opposite. He is a first round pick type of talent who isn’t close to 100% but is still playing because he wants to be out there with his teammates. I do wonder if we should shut him down this week though to give him an extra week before Texas.. Either way, GATA Mykel!
