Any Refs/Rules officials on here…

Buddy of mine sent me a video saying ASU is thinking about appealing the result based on the blocked field goal at the end of the half of their game against Texas.

The field goal was blocked …bounced…and then went through the uprights.

Now I haven’t been able to find anything in the rules that strictly requires the ball go through the uprights in the air per se.

So, apply the kind of statutory construction I would use as a lawyer I would take the plain meaning of the rule if applicable and conclude in favor of enforcing the rule if possible.

If you do that and all that is required is that the ball get through the uprights after it is kicked, then there’s a reasonable argument the field goal should have counted.

Let me be clear…I don’t think the game is getting overturned …I do think we will get a clarification soon.

But I am curious if there are refs or rules officials here that have knowledge of the rules better than me that can tell me if i am missing something.

I got obsessed with this since doing a cursory search and went down the rabbit hole!

Way too Early 2025 Depth Chart?

Interesting Stats

School starts back up Monday, so I will be back in the grind with my kiddos and just can’t post as much but here are some numbers that caught my eye so far:

Some interesting stats:

1) Leffew has actually played 10 more minutes than Blue this year, so even tho Blue is starting, it doesn’t mean he stays in. Blue is frigid right now, less than 10 total points last three games combined.

2) Lawrence is actually leading the team in assists, not Demary

3) Monty only played 16 minutes yesterday and managed to get up a team leading 11 shots. I love the aggressiveness, but that’s kinda a wild number

4) Kentucky has only played one true road game at Clemson and lost. Only put up 66 points

5) in our three biggest games (St Johns, Marquette, and Ole Miss), Somto has scored 1 point total

I have reviewed, broken down and analyzed the upcoming ND game…

I Emailed my observations to CKS. I always keep these emails constructive and simple. Kirby must be working early this morning because he has already emailed me back to thank me for my “support of Georgia Football” and added a “Go Dawgs!” At the end. I have informed Kirby that over the last few games we seem to struggle with lesser teams by not scoring in the first half. If we simply scored a lot in the first half, we could play our usual second half and win easily. I pointed out that Bobo should call explosive plays and not “dud” or “dead end” plays that gain few, if any yards. We need to avoid “stubbing our toe” with low yardage plays. I surmise that Kirby immediately forwarded my email to CMB because I received a “thanks, Coach Mike Bobo” from him.

I noticed several things in ND that I will not share here for obvious reasons but rest assured I have made Kirby aware.

Position by position issues- next year

QB- I thought Stockton did well considering the lack of protection, running game, and bad wide receivers. But the job will be open in the spring.

Running back- Hopefully Etienne stays, but if not, I would only feel good about Frazier as an every down back. The Robinson's, in limited opportunities, haven't overly impressed and obviously they both have had serious injury issues.

Wide Receivers- Start from scratch, I'm not overly impressed with any of them. Evans and White could turn out to be pretty good in the slot, Bell is a role player, Tuggle is an unknown, and Speers and Humphrey don't seem to have the trust of the coaching staff. Maybe Young gets that extra year, we need a reliable X receiver. We have not done anything in the portal so far, so we will have to do something Kirby is not comfortable doing, which is play the Freshman early. The good thing is that the 2025 freshman class has the potential to be very good.

Tight End- Maybe the only offensive position group that I feel good about in 2025.

Offensive Line- Biggest conundrum on the team. Loaded with experienced and talented guys, but can't run block, and the tackles can't pass block. The interior line returns Fairchild, Wilson, and Morris, which should be a strong group, but they can't open holes. The tackles should be good, but Greene completely regressed and Freeling hasn't excelled. We will need to give a long look at the 2024 recruiting class, all of whom red shirted this year.

Interior Defensive Line- Unknown. Miller is the only guy you feel confident in, although McCloud and a healthy Hall could make a leap next year. We will have to rely on the 2024 class, which seems talented, but everybody redshirted. Griffin may be able to contribute as a Freshman.

Edge- At Defensive end you feel good about Ingram-Dawkins and Harris. Williams never lived up to his potential and was only sporadically good, he will be much easier to replace than Walker at OLB. Like everywhere else there is a need for redshirt freshman to step up, particularly JJA. At outside linebacker there is no replacing Walker, and Chambliss was under appreciated, Wilson is good and will need to stay healthy. Depth here is crazy thin, Johnson a RSFr is pretty much it. Harris and Cole could get reps at OLB to help out, along with the true freshman.

Inside linebacker- Strongest position on the team even with the loss of Mondon.

Secondary- I think we'll be OK with Bolden and Thomas at safety, and Aguero at nickel, but there is no depth. At corner Everette has improved, but there is a chance that he goes pro. I'm not sold on Harris and the depth is totally inexperienced. We never gave Robinson and Demello Jones the reps they needed this year. I expect that we will see some backups hit the portal out of the secondary, and this will really hurt secondary depth.

I wouldn't post this on the Vent cause I'd be called a communist or worse,

but I'm much more nervous about our game with Ole Miss than I was the Sugar Bowl. I can't remember being this excited about our first SEC game in a long time. We all have to accept whatever happens that it's a long road and this is the first step. I really want us top play well, but I'd sure as hell take playing bad and winning.

CMW needs some new wrinkles to our offense. We are way too easy to defend. The high post screens are not working.

We get very few easy shots, or open looks. How many times times this year have we fed the low post...almost never. And we don't try. You're not going to beat SEC defenses with what we are doing. Shooting poorly is one thing, but 29% and 11% is not just from poor shooting. It comes from forced shots late in the shotclock and not getting good looks.

Very poor games from Silas and RJ. Abson is still producing much better than RJ...play him. Somto and Montgomery didn't do much. James is non-existent They had ten blocks to our five. Leffew and Lawrence shot poorly. Our defense was pretty good, except for allowing 3-4 open 3s. We were outrebounded by a team that was ranked way below us in rebounding. Fifteen turnovers and too many were just lazy passes. Five assists?

As poorly as we played, we had a couple open 3s in the last five minutes that would have been big, but nada.

Bottomline is CMW has got to change some things up offensively.

Asa is the only “complete” basketball player we have…..

all of our other players are lacking, to a significant degree, in certain areas such as D, rebounding, shooting, ball handling, passing, etc. In some games, some of our players shoot the ball well, but against a tough SEC defense like we saw today, the shooting was abysmal. And we will see these tough SEC defenses almost every game from here on in.

But we do have some talented players in certain areas.

Something has to change with our offense. CMW needs to add some structure and patterns to our O. The stuff we’re running right now is ineffective against the tough SEC defenses we’ll see. He needs to run some set patterns for Asa.

Our offense right now is to just let one of our outside men freelance, get a pick and roll from one of our bigs, try to take it to the rim, and if that fails, which it does 75% of the time, let somebody else try the same thing.

I don’t believe he’s starting the right five.

The Rolling Stones came to America,
their arrival in the States predated that of The Beatles by a few weeks, making them one of the first British bands to truly break the United States...

In total, the band played 13 shows on their first US tour, and the first was at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, California on June 5th, 1964.

Not for everybody, but
here’s some of it…

First met Sonny Smart, I guess it was 1988…

I was a sports writer with the Valdosta Daily times. Valdosta played at Bainbridge.
Sonny let me use his office to send to send my story.
Funny the things you remember….
Prayers up to the entire Smart family.
PS - I don’t know how Kirby was able to coach the Sugar Bowl knowing that all was going on with his dad at the time of the game.

The more I watch the replay the more I feel sorry for Parker Jones and the more I get

pissed with that little bitch of an official. That should have been a warning at most. It would have been different if he crashed into him and went down this was a nothing burger. What is this officials name? I need to do some research. Is his last name Holtz, Parseghisn or Rockne by chance?
