I sat next to Mike Usry's sister on a plane yesterday....they love the Dawgs

Most of you probably don't remember him, but he was a QB when I was at UGA in 94-98. He might have been part of the exodus when Quincy Carter came in and took the started job as a freshman. I think Nate Hybl went to Oklahoma, England left, and maybe I don't know if Usry might have stayed or not. I might have butchered that timeline, it was a long time ago and back then i didn't follow the ins and outs of the players because it seemed unmasculine to me to care about the student athletes who were my same age. At any rate, she talked about the Dawgs with great excitement. I didn't know that Mike married one of our gym dawgs and is constantly mocked for being the inferior athlete of the two. Funny story the way she told it.

Watching the SEC trophy presentation again.....

Looked really thrown together last minute. I guess that's the way they all are really. But it was like Laura handed the mic to Sankey and said "Say something while I try to get the MVP envelope"

Sankey: "Texas is great"

Laura yanks the mic away

"Daylen Everette MVP"

Daylen: "It's all about my teammates. "

Kirby: "We need rest. Thanks Sankey."

Sankey: Acts like he's thrilled. (Honestly, the scowl on his face was there the whole time. No real reaction to what Kirby said. If I didn't know better, would think he was a Tex alum.)

I feel either 1990 or 2000 had it correct, I'd say 2000 reward the top 50 teams. Eliminate 6-6 teams, if not for 35 bowls in 2010, Georgia's streak however would have came to an end.

Semi-Beck update

Beck’s QB coach was on the radio in Jax this morning and he didn’t say anything earth shattering, but you can read between the lines that Beck isn’t going to be ready anytime soon.

Denny Thompson is also Brock Purdy’s QB coach, so he’s been through this with one of his QB before.

A little bonus info is he’s also Luke Kromenhoek’s QB coach and it sounds like he wants to go somewhere he can be developed in a pro style offense. Denny loves what Kirby does with QBs, so if they’re really interested in Luke, he has a lot of people in his group that could steer him our way.
