When a recruit has multiple times to commit to you and doesn’t…..

BOLD RED flags should be flying!!!! There is SOMETHING that is preventing him from committing. Obviously we saw today that he was holding out to the highest bidder. Obviously there is NO loyalty anymore. Everything has a price tag!! I refuse to believe anyone is going to any school anymore until the name is signed on the dotted line and it is official and announced by the school. You could almost feel this in your gut weeks leading up to today that this was going to happen.

College football is becoming less and less fun…..

Imagine being Kirby right now. He is trying diligently to prepare his team for the SEC Championship and potentially College football playoffs. He has been recruiting hard and closed a class this week during preparations for the SEC Championship game. He has been chasing kids at the last moment to flip to us or trying to get kids to not flip away from us. The portal is about to open and he is trying to recruit his own players that he wants to stay. He also must be keeping an eye on players that are going into the portal. He is being pulled in all different types of ways possible. Then you have a kid that visited us multiple times that we have recruited since the ninth grade and was once committed to us. He visits Texas ONE time and signs with them. It’s ALL about the money now days…..there is no loyalty to anyone but the Benjamins. I can’t blame JT at all……I blame the system. It’s really disgusting! The deepest money pool will always win. It’s not about the x’s and o’s but it’s all about the jimmys and joes for sure…..that statement to me has never been truer in this environment we are in! Money talks…..WHY would Kirby or any coach worth a damn put up with this crap? Kirby has made his money for generations of his family to enjoy. Why would a good/great college football coach put up with this bs…..just go to the NFL if you are qualified and you don’t have near the headaches!! Times have changed and either you adjust or you get swallowed up. To the loyal fan it stinks watching what is happening. I’m all for kids getting paid but put a cap on how much you can pay as a whole for your scholarships. This whole environment turns my stomach. I love the Dawgs and will always cheer them on but this is getting harder and harder to enjoy like in the past! This is just not about losing a prize recruit but a summation of the bs that is happening right before our eyes. The genie is out of the bottle…..college football needs to be fixed with some type of guidelines for sure!

Upside on standing pat

It’s a tough ending to signing day—there’s no sugarcoating the results of how things closed. That said, in my opinion, the only way to build a dynastic-level program is to strike a balance: being a major NIL investor while also consistently landing a cross-section of recruits who are willing to forgo the highest offer because they believe in what the program can do for them. For Georgia, we can call it the “Kirby Effect.”

The challenge with being the school known for offering the most money (think Texas or Ohio State) is that over time, fewer recruits will want to be the ones not getting crazy money in a program known for giving out the craziest money. That creates internal friction.

Money, no matter how abundant, isn’t scalable in perpetuity. Going all-in financially can definitely work in the short term. There’s a world you win a Natty and ignite momentum. I get the upside. The other side of the coin is that it risks setting up a future where you’re competing against yourself with dwindling resources if postseason success doesn’t follow.

I’m not making excuses for going 0/3 on the line to close, but just sharing my perspective on why I don’t mind Georgia sticking to its soft cap approach.

DONE WITH THIS MADNESS

Well, it has finally caught up to this old UGA Double Dawg who was used to giving money to support MY school and the athletic programs consisting of kids who loved the school, wanted an education and were proud of our institution. It is the way of the world today paying off snot nosed, greedy kids who make millions because they can play a sport..... but what about academics and love for "their school". I am done with donations to support this madness and guess I will just buy a ticket to go back to a campus I love and the fond memory of kids who gave a damn and wanted to play for a school they too loved. I sure hope my doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants and others have an interest in a degree from Georgia and honor the school that way....as opposed to simply seeking a handout because they can run and tackle.

Do you all remember

When FSU was poaching all of our players and recruits. The Dawgs preceded to put up record breaking points on them in a bowl game that FSU pretended didn’t matter. It triggered the end of a momentum building program that was otherwise excelling. Kirby Smart is about to go scorched earth on Texas. In 2 years we are going to be asking what happened to Texas. You heard it here first.
