Realization

Has set in that the wife and I will be on Baldwin tailgating tomorrow. First game I’ve gotten to this year and we forget after a loss like last week how special and few these days are.

Get to enjoy a game with my uncle that raised me into Georgia football since I was a toddler. He’s battling a serious illness but it hasn’t stopped him from driving across state lines twice already to see the Dawgs play. He’s been a season ticket holder since 1978 and I hope to have many more games and memories with him and his family.

Anybody wants to come by and have a cold Trop or just ogle my wife, you perverts, shoot me a message. These Saturdays are a gift and we only get so many. HBTFD.

On the (almost) 30th year anniversary: how my dad helped end Auburn's 20-game win streak

Some back story for the youngsters: After the 1992 season, Auburn fired Coach Pat Dye and hired Terry Bowden (son of Bobby). Auburn went 11-0 in his first year, and had won the first 9 games of the 1994 season (including a game at #1 Florida) leading up to the game against Georgia on November 12th. Auburn was ranked #3 at the time, and Georgia, at 5-4, was unranked. Down 9 – 23 after an Auburn TD in the third quarter, Georgia would score two TDs to tie the game at 23 with 13:06 left to go in the game. Auburn would eventually be in position for their kicker to attempt a 44 -yard FG with 13 seconds left.

Four years earlier, as a senior on his high school football team, that kicker was dating my sister. Sometime after he had signed with Auburn he was at my parents’ house. My dad congratulated him, but added, “it’s okay that you’re going to Auburn, just don’t ever kick a winning FG against Georgia.” I will always believe that as he lined up to attempt that FG, in the back of his mind, he was thinking about what my dad had said, and that it messed with his concentration just enough to miss the kick.

Dad actually felt kind of bad about it. According to my sister, the next time she was home, he said to her, “I did not mean to do that to him!”

Little fall practice update....

Ran into Coach Coggin for five minutes heading over to football....
Few things

Last week's storm set them back a little bit but not much.
Freshman Cade Brown is opening eyes....exit velo has been out of sight.
Since they're playing at Athens Academy, Georgia is using Trackman to gauge how far balls would be traveling if the games were being played at Foley.
Transfer pitcher Brian Curley was hit hard during the first scrimmage, but the second scrimmage was lights out.
Pitching is a lot deeper than last year.

You would have to be an idiot to say Trump is afraid to debate Kamala. Hell, I’ll debate Kamala.

On an issue by issue basis, she loses a debate against anyone with half a brain.

She is a political woman of color. What else does she bring to the table? Not a thing.

God forbid she ever had to close room negotiate with Russia, China or any Middle East leader.

That this country of ours could be so shallow to vote for her is beyond any rational thought.

If you goal is DEI hiring, gender hormone pubert blockers for children, open borders, higher taxes, and a ridiculous education system, she is your man.

If you want the world in turmoil, with terrorist factors showing us no fear, being at the feet of oil producing countries and paying paying higher prices for gas and electricity as we play the climate crisis game, she is your man.

If you want to dissolve the middle class into an all other working class, with rich elites calling the shots, she’s your man.

Men acting as women in sports, More crime and more racial divide, she’s your man.

Show me I am wrong.

Equality over initiative. It’s killing us.

I'll give you one guess the 3 for us...
