While pondering Kirby's candidacy for coach of the year for parlaying the consensus #1 SOS to a SEC championship (and perhaps more), I was wondering what the SEC office might have in mind for the 2026 conference schedule.
- How many conference games will it include?
- Will there be some formula for balancing the schedule and ensuring a team plays all the other SEC teams within a set number of seasons?
- Will the process be made public or remain locked away in Birmingham minds and hard drives?
- Will Texas be given perceived special treatment (as they did all those years in the Big-12)?
Just wondering. Any ideas on what might happen in 2026 and beyond? (
Caveat: I anticipate this will be directly affected by what the CFP decides to do beyond 2025.)
