NonDawg Biggest Villain in College Fooball History?

Josh Pate discussed this on his recent podcast and in a tweet. Interesting off-season subject that can be very subjective based on who you root for and/or root against.

Even though technically he wasn't a football player, I would say Ed O'Bannon.

His lawsuit ushered in the NIL era that has greatly harmed college sports.... also whoever the guy that "invented" the transfer portal I would put up there too.

When it's all said and done, NIL will hurt more players than it helped...

By a wide margin the most financially valuable thing the vast majority of players get is an education.

But NIL lures these boys into the false promise of a payday and gets them into the portal where many never get picked up.

Aside from the disruption of constantly transferring schools and how that must hinder academic progress.

And is it curious to anyone in the post-NIL world that we never hear about a player missing games for grades?

Why is that?

NIL is a cancer eating its hosts alive, created by lawyers and agents in the name of "student-athlete rights" but harming them the most while everyone else (and a small number of elite athletes) get rich.

Looking back on the Sugar Bowl, Beck’s

body language was awful, as my wife pointed out to me at the time, but I just brushed it off as him having to watch his backup play instead of him. Rational.

But seeing some of the other things that are being said, I think his body language should have told us a lot more.

I’m beginning to think the absolute outpouring of support for Gunner before that game should also have told us maybe something about the difference in the way the team sees Gunner vs the way they see Beck. Maybe things weren’t all good there, and maybe the Lambo DID in fact drive a wedge. Who knows?

I just know that I’m feeling good about our QB room coming into 2025, and if it’s not where it needs to be, then I trust Kirby to tamper with a good option. Lol

If it’s Gunner, we know we are getting a TRUE leader and a guy with a winner’s attitude. If it’s Pugs (which I secretly hope it is, strictly because of the upside), then we know he will be better than what Gunner showed in 1.5 games and that would be huge for us. I’d hate it for Gunner thought, but love it for UGA.

But join me in wishing Carson Beck one final SCREW YOU, and finishing it off with a wry smile. Go Dawgs, baby, or die!
