I know he left because he couldn't get on the field. I thought he was headed to Texas A&M, but I saw the comings and goings thread said Nebraska for him. Has he signed or enrolled? Any chance he might reconsider / stay with Damon Wilson in the portal? Figure there is no chance, but given this unexpected development it felt worth asking.

Nepotism kills.

Mike Bobo got hired because he is Kirby‘s friend. You cannot look at his tenure at Colorado State and Auburn and think any differently. Stacy Searals as well.

Both were terrible hires, and Kirby has made up for them because he is the best coach in the business. They have to go, otherwise we are going to slip in the mediocrity like Clemson.

James Coley sucks too.

When Somebody Tells You Who They Are ...

Believe them.

There's a lot of pearl clutching and teeth gnashing over two players (Mendoza and Key) who chose to make what amounts to lateral moves.

It is clear to me that neither of them wanted to come compete for the chance to be elite, they want guarantees, and made lateral moves to get them.

Playing for Kirby Smart at UGA is a privilege. Pressure is a privilege. Playing on the biggest stage in college football is a privilege. Putting great practice and game film on tape for the NFL is a privilege. Winning championships and the glory is the payoff.

Going to Indiana and Nebraska isn't competing and compared to succeeding at UGA, ain't a privilege. It is settling. It is chasing mediocrity instead of excellence.

If a player doesn't believe in himself enough to go to the Alpha program in college football and compete to be the Alpha Dawg at his position, he won't believe in himself and his teammates when he's down 2 TD's to Ohio State in the 4th quarter, down 3 TD's in Tuscaloosa, down 2 TD's to Tech, or down to Texas in the SECCG w/o their starting QB.

Guys like that get you beat, and turn your program into Nebraska or Indiana. I'll take the heart and grit of Arian Smith and Gunner Stockton over either one of them every single time.

Championship heart and meddle always beats settling for mediocrity.

When somebody tells you who they are, believe them.

As Erk used to say, FIDO.

UPDATE Carson Beck will join team in New Orleans

Kirby Smart -
"Yeah, he's going to join us in the next couple of days down here. Big thing for him has been a part of his rehab process and what all he's had to do. He's had a really tough injury. He needed to get some rehab from people in Jacksonville. He's got a specialist that has worked with this injury. Brock Purdy had a very similar injury. Nick Mullens, I think [Matthew] Stafford. He had several people. So when you talk about his team of people, including the surgeons, he's had to do a lot of work with that. So he's been there for Gunner throughout. He's supported Gunner, had multiple conversations with him. Looking forward to having him with us for this game."
