I don’t think it’s fair to say the one year exemption was entirely focused on Trump only, given the me-too movement and that over 2500 civil cases were filed in court in NY during that timeframe.

I think law change was to target Trump, regardless, it’s almost impossible to defend yourself for an accusation 20 plus years in past. Moreover, she originally said the dress she purchased or wore that day she was assaulted wasn’t made until years later. Then she changed her story. So her original complaint was questionable at best. Any lawyer with 1/2 brain could win a case VS Trump in NY, perhaps the attorney did maximize the verdict but she was playing with a loaded deck. At the same time, there were about 10 women who accused DT of molesting them. There wasn't any evidence to support any of these accusations just like with Carroll's accusation. It is interesting to me that there have never been accusations of women who worked for Trump
