Waste of $ unless you are doing it for religious reasons, or you are just districted to an awful school. Public schools are just as good and better academically most places. Especially K-8. Typically those teachers aren’t certified. Now there are some really good private academic high schools. But they also get to pick and choose their students too. College is expensive, so save the $ for that! 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 My son went public all the way. Stanford grad MBA and doing well. My daughter got into 3 Ivy’s and from Public schools. You will see this same thing from kids in private schools. Kids with good families that support their kids and have driven kids will do well in either setting. To me it’s the $.

I went to a private Christian school. I regretted it when I got to UGA and regret to this day. I go to church almost every Sunday.

Our kids went public to private back to public - head master was a lady when we moved to private - was really pleased with what we were getting for our $$ - then she retired and new guy came in - wasn’t worth it for what we were paying for 3 kids. I would say if your wife works there and knows if you get bang for your $$$ - then yes - would add that the quality of your public school system matters a lot to - ours is average at best - but having really smart kids in an average school system can work to your advantage when colleges are comparing to their peers

I am on the board of education where I live and I can attest to the quality of education our kids receive but I think it is a personal and individual decision. If I lived somewhere else, private school may be an option for us. It just depends on each system. For example, Oconee County and Jefferson City Schools are two of the best systems in the state (I don’t live in either of those districts), but if you lived in Clarke County I get the draw to one of the private schools in and around Athens.

It depends on how much you value religious instruction or a “religious” instructional environment. My grandkids are in an incredibly expensive private school with no religious affiliation, but they deemed it worth the $$ because of the high quality of the academic program. I’d say that in opting for any private school, you’d want to fully acquaint yourself with its academic reputation and instructional approach. Some church-affiliated private schools are top-notch academically, while some pursue a more religion-centric approach. It also depends on how important the religious environment is to you and your wife. She had a good experience there a while back, but what, if anything, may have changed? If the religious aspect is genuinely intrusive or overpowering, how will your boys react to it as they grow older? This is an important decision involving some intrinsic unknowns and inevitably subjective impressions. I hope it works out for the best for you and your kids.
