Kirby's interview on SECN - "pop quiz" for the team more evidence of Dawgs' Smart HC

The studio folks laughed when he first said he was giving the team a pop quiz, but as they chuckled, Kirby identified the questions - "Why did the winning team win?" "What did they do differently to win?." UGA coaches aren't just having the team watch the game or even telling individual players to focus on who they'd be lined up across from (which they're all likely doing). Instead, Kirby is making them think like coaches when watching the game and their answers will inform the game prep moving forward.

So lucky to have CKS. He NEVER stops coaching or preparing to win.

I have reviewed, broken down and analyzed the ND game…

I Emailed my observations to CKS. I always keep these emails constructive and simple. Kirby must be working early this morning because he has already emailed me back to thank me for my “support of Georgia Football” and added a “Go Dawgs!” At the end. I have informed Kirby that over the last few games we seem to struggle with lesser teams by not scoring in the first half. If we simply scored a lot in the first half, we could play our usual second half and win easily. I pointed out that Bobo should call explosive plays and not “dud” or “dead end” plays that gain few, if any yards. We need to avoid “stubbing our toe” with low yardage plays. I surmise that Kirby immediately forwarded my email to CMB because I received a “thanks, Coach Mike Bobo” from him.

I noticed several things in ND that I will not share here for obvious reasons but rest assured I have made Kirby aware.

Kenny Dillingham on his guys portal....

Kenny Dillingham's perspective on ASU players who are entering the transfer portal:

"Our guys have the opportunity to stay on our football team, and they're like, 'We'll go in (the portal) at the end,' and I go, 'No, that's not fair to you to go in after our run is over. I want you to have the best opportunity to find a spot. You can go in day one right now, we'll help you find a spot, and stay on our football team if you want to stay on our football team and let's go on this ride together the rest of the way.'"

I'd be fine doing it this way. I know some wouldn't. Just a lot of honesty on both sides .

Listening to Herbstreit and Fowler independent of each other on NFL telecasts....

I think the best booth duo working in any form of football right now is them. Fowler had two awful analysts with him last Monday night and had to carry them both. Michaels is still better than most play by play guys, but not what he used to be. Herbstreit made a smooth transition calling NFL games. We're kind of lucky having them call a lot of our games and let's hope a few more this season. Here's Fowler talking about his first years at ESPN and the growth of College Gameday from a 30 minute show to what it eventually became. Login to view embedded media

Saban is such a grump..

Shane Gillis made an innocent joke on Gameday about ND now being able to pay players like Saban/Bama used to and of course Saban got in his feelings about it. He is such a blowhard and of course only used to being constantly praised. Everyone on set was afraid of even laughing.. 🤦🏼‍♂
