My experience of Happy Valley

In 2007, a friend from work invited me and two other guys to State College for the Penn State-Wisconsin game. His parents both taught at PSU, and he had grown up and gone to undergrad there.

One of the other guys in our group was from Madison and was a big Badger fan. So I decided to be a sport, and I bought a Penn State jacket and a Wisconsin hat.

First, from outside that stadium it looks like a giant erector set, and there is nothing around it but a vast parking lot. The Nittany mountains are visible in the distance.

Crossing the parking lot toward the stadium, I felt like I was in the whitest place I’ve ever seen. In that sea of fans, I couldn’t find a single black face. Growing up in Georgia and living in New York City, this freaked me out. This is what I imagine I’d find in a medium-sized city in, say, Poland.

Inside, the stadium was nice and very loud. A great atmosphere. Other people in the stadium were very friendly. They have some fun traditions. Periodically, the student section would star chanting “We want the lion.” The guy in the lion costume would walk over, the students would lift him and pass him up and down the lower level of the stadium.

Finally, I was in a restroom during halftime. A guy sees me walk in wearing a PSU jacket and Wisky hat. He points at my getup and asks, “what’s this?” I said, “I’m a Georgia fan.” He smiles and nods like that’s a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Its honestly pretty embarrassing

That some of you clowns are sitting up here trying to act like ND is some world beater team. Its honestly a joke and shows you have no IQ.

-“ND is a well coached team” well coached teams don’t lose to 7-5 NIU @ home.

-“11-1 is impressive” their best win was an 8-4 A&M team week 1 that got blown out by Texas @ home. Next best is 6-6 USC

-“they beat GT worse than us” Haynes King didnt even play when they played.

Fact of the matter is ND hasnt played anyone and is not a good football team. They look pretty to someone who cant understand SOS.

-we have a 100 point talent advantage in the roster composite.

-they are the 3rd worst passing offense we have faced this season only ahead of UMASS and UK.

-we have faced 5 better or comparable backs/run games in Tech, Clemson, Auburn, Texas 2x, and TN. Completely shut 4/5 of those run games down. The difference with Tech is Faulkner and King. ND don’t have either. If you think a team will just run it down our throat with no threat to throw, please turn in your fan card.

-USC is the best offense they faced this season by a large margin and got torched. Almost 400 yards passing and 200 yards rushing. As we saw last night, that DL can be pushed back in the run game. Idc who our QB is, we will have success on that defense. The team speed is not there. They also have essentially no film on Gunner. Whos coaches do you trust more?

-Go position group by position group and you wouldnt trade a single one from our team to theres.

ND simply isnt a good football team and its embarrassing to see some of yall act scared.

Kirby's interview on SECN - "pop quiz" for the team more evidence of Dawgs' Smart HC

The studio folks laughed when he first said he was giving the team a pop quiz, but as they chuckled, Kirby identified the questions - "Why did the winning team win?" "What did they do differently to win?." UGA coaches aren't just having the team watch the game or even telling individual players to focus on who they'd be lined up across from (which they're all likely doing). Instead, Kirby is making them think like coaches when watching the game and their answers will inform the game prep moving forward.

So lucky to have CKS. He NEVER stops coaching or preparing to win.
