IMO the first step to fix CFP idiocy is…

to remove as much of the committee’s subjectivity as possible. Establish a point ranking system made up of W/L, home/away game location, FBS opponents only, or whatever. Then apply a physical “conference value component or weighting.” Meaning rank the conferences each season based upon that season’s 1st ten games. Hopefully this would force the committee into realizing not all w/l’s are created equal. It would eliminate a 17th ranked team, which obviously doesn’t belong in the top 12, just because they play in a bad conference. Throwing out D-2 games would eliminate consideration meaning one less game counts toward a total ranking value. This would pull down, say, an Indiana for a pathetically weak schedule.

Just my O2 with endless possibilities so feel free to chime in or bash away.

UPDATE Couple of things from Kirby Smart's press conference....

...Not much update on Trevor and Christen Miller....both are questionable and he hopes they play.
...Joenel Aguero had surgery on on his finger after the Ole Miss game and has been wearing a club...said he should be able to do more this week.
...Kirby was asked about Will Muschamp if he's going to be around more since Vandy's not playing. Said he has no idea. Said he's been around this week, but usually leaves around Thursday.

Struck out 3/3 on DL to finish the class

Missed on Wynn, McCloud and Terry.

We don't build championship rosters with 1 good player at DT every year. We need to start tampering in the portal for starting DTs yesterday.

This won't be fixed until regulations come. Relationships do not matter in recruiting except for the 5% of recruits where it does (like Talyn Taylor)

Delaying his signing to Friday was a bargaining move to get the highest offers possible.

We do not have the coffers to compete with Oregon and Texas in the current environment. Expect to lose multiple recruits in the future to the same tune of $$$$ even after building relationships for 4 years.

Would you take $4m cash….?

If someone (like @claydawg99) offered you $4m cash, would you give up loving the Dawgs and become a super fan of Florida or Texas or Auburn? For forever. You couldn’t set foot in Sanford or in Athens (unless it was an away game for your new team). You would have to donate all of your red and black and switch to wearing some shade of orange. You would have to watch or attend as many games as you do today (in all sports).

This is what modern recruiting is like. I LOVE the Dawgs but $4m is a nice chunk of change.

Desmond Howard is an idiot.

Apparently the only metric for him is wins and losses.

I do not want Alabama in it for a number of reasons, but how in the hell can you compare their schedule to Indiana, Boise State, Arizona State, Miami, etc. They would probably be undefeated with those schedules. The SEC should drop all other Out of Conference games with power 5 opponents. It is ridiculous to play that many tough opponents and it not matter.

Sankey said, if I understood him correctly, that Alabama had played more top 25 teams than every team in the top 25 except for one (we know who that is).

On one hand if you are #12 or so, you are at the mercy of the committee and have no real right to be anywhere. OTH, don't give me a bunch of crap about the win loss record of teams that maybe played one top 25 opponent and loss to it or loss to a couple of unranked teams.
