I know none it’s likely none of us were involved in making the portal rules. So my question:

Why is the portal opening when it is?

I would think the portal opening for the month of June would be best for both players and schools.

1. It occurs when all schools are off for summer break and gives plenty of time for a player to move into a future school. Allows said player to finish more classes.

2. It forces a player to go through spring ball and maybe, possibly, develop more. Adds more time for coaches to work with players and allows players TIME grow

The current system forces guys to jump into the portal in the middle of playoffs, bowl games, etc. And then they have a week or two to actually coordinate the move to a brand new place, all during the holiday season. It all seems forced.

Thoughts?
