Let’s be honest: Beck ain’t got that dawg in him

Beck is a good QB. He pushes the ball down the field on intermediate routes well. He uses his legs to move around.

But he’s Jake Fromm attitude wise. He doesn’t have that edge that Stet had or Zeier had. He’s passive. He sleepwalks through games like this. He doesn’t take over games when we need him to - he waits for someone else to make a play.

We need more from Beck if we’re going to win anything .

Disastrous

So far the offseason is coming along swimmingly.
We lose our entire interior OL & might keep the biggest piece of shit OL coach in the country. Even IF (big if IMO) Kirby cans Searels, the damage he's done to this OL is insurmountable.
We're literally depending on Bobo's son to start at Center, FFS. (which means it's pretty much a lock that Bobo is staying on as OC).

If you thought this OL was brutal in 2024, just wait til the '25 season. The chickens are coming home to roost with Searels' shitty recruiting results & coaching over the past few years. Taking undersized (redacted) undertalented projects over & over again is really going to hurt in '25.
There has been ZERO development along the OL, pretty much every OL got worse this year from previous years.
Just f-ing look at our OT with chart now, absolute travesty. Meriweather & Hughley have been here for like 2-3 yrs each & still aren't ready to compete at a high level.

We're going to need a QB who has Lamar Jackson/Mike Vick's legs & Aaron Rodgers' arm/quick release to even consider a passing game.
And with our mediocre RB room, it's hard to imagine having much more success on the ground in 2025 as well.

Don't care if y'all attack me for this post, it's the truth. The offense is continuing it's rapid decline.

No wonder our offense was a dumpster fire this year....

Beck and the coaches not on the same page or even seem to like each other, searels and bobo not on the same page. I'm guessing Beck and most everyone else on the offense wasn't on the same page or liking each other either. Just a mess right now. We've got A LOT of work to do in order to turn this offense around.

The way Back Machine: 2021 against UAB, 4th Quarter

Carson is in for mop-up duty, and the Dawgs pitching a shutout. CB throws a Pick 6 and is nonchalant as hell when it happens. The vent killed him that day and the next day. Connecting that dot to today is very telling about how many on the vent felt about him. Not saying wrong or right, that UAB play has always been in my mind when watching his struggles this year. Never quite seemed to be fully in the game many times. Then again, dropping his passes sure as hell didn't help. Just an observation, no Earth-shattering revelation here, just mental vomit.

Beck ... exactly why I stopped falling in love with QBs

I've posted many times here that I refuse to fall in love with QBs until they prove they are DGDs. Stetson is the last one.

I learned my lesson with Fromm. He was such an easy guy to fall in love with. This story was fantastic, it appeared he came from a great family, we had the ND game, and he lead us to our first NC appearance in decades. But then all the Feilds stuff happened, he seemed to sour on UGA, and then decided to go to the NFL too early. We had fights here about Fields, and then people blowing up Stetson all the time that culminated in a UGA-loving ESPN reporter actually bemoaning that he was returning after winning the first NC. I finally said, the hell with it ... no more falling in love with QBs.

So, Beck, glad to have known you. Really appreciate 2023 ... you did great. This year was a rough ride, even though I enjoyed much of it. If the 2023 Beck is in there, would love to have it back, but I refuse to get wrapped up in it.

As for next year, I think we have our QB on our roster now. But, if we bring in a starter, even if it chases these guys off, so be it. The coaches get paid millions, I pay to come here. I will let them deal with all that.
