Beck vs. Stet

Before we all start dog piling on Carson saying that he isn't Stetson, let's make sure we have an accurate picture of what the two had to work with. This is NOT a knock on Stetson.

Stetson had 3 first round talents at receiver in AD Mitchell, Brock, and Ladd. He also had Darnell who I would argue was our most valuable player on those teams. He also had a high first round pick at left tackle, a mid round pick at right, and a first round pick in Mims at right tackle. He also had a much better defense which was getting him more opportunities on offense.

Compare that with Carson.

Are any of our receivers going to be drafted before the fifth round? Are any of our linemen even going to be drafted? I won't even mention our tight end room. And our defense is much worse than either of the two that Stetson won championships with.

I don't think Stetson would be able to do much more than what Beck is doing right now.

How have we not already discussed the Pole Assassin this week?

Sorry if I missed it but I can't believe we haven't discussed the Pole Assassin, her emotional support monkey that bites children and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks. This is almost too good to be true.

Only in Texas could this be the second most dramatic relationship on the coaching staff.

Here's an interesting question

When was the last time Georgia lost to a team that didn't have a talent advantage (however small) over Georgia? Correct me if I am wrong about this, but each time we have lost to Bama they technically had more 4 & 5 star players on their roster. Florida was the last team not named Bama to beat us. If memory serves me correctly, we were pretty beat up heading into that game (and lost more players during the game), and couldn't overcome the star power UF had on offense that year. The only other time I can remember losing to a team that didn't match up with us from a talent perspective was that flukey turnover fest loss to SoCar in Athens. I know that Texas is pretty darn close to us in terms of roster talent, and they have studs at WR (a recipe that always gives us trouble), but we don't really lose to teams less talented than us.

The Big Mighty Longhorns...

...the most dominant, complete, star-studded team in the land is about to lay down the whoop ass on the struggling, can't ever-get-it-done, overrated, out-of-control program in the country. Poor Dawgs don't have a chance...they are quickly on the path to becoming the next Central/North Florida program...Entire gameday crew picks mighty UT...;););)

The loss of innocence

I mention this each year as we creep towards Christmas.

A song, popular at Christmastime, has a title that sounds so sweet and joyful, but it is really quite sad.

And it speaks directly to adults as we feel the need to rush our children past innocence and into life decisions. Shame on us for not protecting the innocence of our children. Because once innocence is gone, it is GONE. Once you leave, you can’t return. It is actually a good illustration of the story of the Garden of Eden. In our quest to attain, we lose out.

It is my hope and prayer that we protect our children and our country and world comes to that realization. Allow and protect the innocence and joy of a child.

If we could only love and live in that joy.

Toyland, toyland
Little girl and boy land
While you dwell within it
You are ever happy there
Childhood's joy land
Mystic merry toyland
Once you pass its borders
You can ne'er return again

When you've grown up, my dears
And are as old as I
You'll laugh and ponder on the years
That roll so swiftly by, my dears
That roll so swiftly by
Childhood's joy land
Mystic merry toyland
Once you pass its borders
You can ne'er return again
