I hope you all had a Merry Christmas

and a lovely day with family.

I spent the day with my wife, son, and in-laws.

Still, I had this place in the back of my mind all day. This is my other family. This community is amazing. It's the real gift of being here. News ebbs and flows but the community is the real heart of UGASports. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I am blessed to be a part of it.

Has it crossed anyone’s mind that maybe Kirby’s philosophy on the portal is actually helping us?

I don’t want to bring too much logic into this discussion, but I’ve heard enough belly aching over the lack of portal pick-ups. Kirby obviously has a strategy and puts a priority on retaining who he wants to. I think this builds the team stronger from within, and that can be the difference when two uber-talented teams go toe to toe. If you don’t trust Kirby now, then I don’t think he can win you over.

Woman set on fire on Subway

Maybe Germans but don't care. Some think the victim was asleep when the man set her on fire. she died on scene.

Per the article, the asshole was an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who was deported in 2018 but recently illegally reentered the country (shocker)

Can you imagine your last moments on earth are fully on fire after just being woken up? Just awful

This Kirby quote from my Dan Jackson story rings a little true today

“I think about where we'd be without him. Just a lot of respect for him and his leadership,” Smart said. “All these kids that want to go and transfer and change and do all this. You look at a guy like Dan Jackson. He is what college football is all about, guys. He's not asking for more money. He's not trying to go somewhere else. The guy just loves Georgia.”

The best Christmas present is always my wife and I are healthy.

This years UGA hoops team is the next best present I've had in a long time. Been waiting a while for the dogs to have the talent to really compete and a coach that appears to know how to use it. I get all the games down here either on Youtube tv or streaming sites here that are not legal in the US. We've all gotten a heck of a gift let's enjoy it. Feliz Navidad amigos.

The simple fix for the CFP Committee is putting more and better coaches on the committee

Chris Ault and Mike Riley. Long-time coaches, but they were never at title contending programs. You cannot tell me they understand better than Saban, Mack Brown or some other retired or soon to be retired coaches the rigors vying for a national title, or a title in the SEC and other big conferences.

Ault coached at Nevada for 28 years. His last year was in 2012. His last job coaching football was in 2017, coaching the Milano Rhinos in the Italian Football League. Unfortunately, the Milano Rhinos lost to the Milano Seamen in his last game. His best bowl win was the Fight Hunger Bowl in 2009.

Yes, Riley coached at Nebraska for three seasons after a long time at Oregaon State. But Nebraska was mediocre at best with no title aspirations. Riley has not coached since he was a .500 coach at Nebraska from 2015-2017. His best bowl win in his career is the Foster Farms Bowl in 2016.

Gary Pinkel is on there. He is a good choice. His teams finished in the top 5 a couple of times, and he was successful in the SEC.

I would also put more top coaches on and take off the A.D.'s from second and third-tier football schools. Does anyone think David Sayler and Carla WIlliams know more about judging top college teams than Saban and Mack Brown?

I would like the CFP committee to become a who's who of top retired coaches. Not coaches that have nothing else to do, and not A.D.'s at second and third tier football schools.

Proposal for New College Football Structure

-1 League structured like NFL with conferences and divisions. There is also league wide salary cap for NIL.
-Kids can commit to school of their choosing but only for league wide pre-set contracts with escalation each year (100k, 150k, 200k for example). There is a 2 year stay obligation and then you can portal or renegotiate but you cannot be paid less than 3rd year minimum contract if you stay on the team. Similarly after 2nd year the school can cut you loose and you are free to go to any other school in the league or drop down.
-If kids want more money than the above guarantee they enter into a draft prior to matriculation which is structured like the NFLs and are obligated to spend at least two years at the school that drafts them. Contracts from the draft could result in more money (there would be an overall salary cap) but again there is obligation to stay 2 years and you may be playing for a bottom feeder. After 2 years the player can reneg as above, portal, or be cut and go elsewhere

This is obviously not a perfect system as I just thought of it. It’s meant to inspire conversation.
