Not to get my hopes up about the branch bros. I mean from every angle this is a recruitment we don’t win. Electric playmaker, package deal, heavy NIL. And yet every report sounds more and more positive. I’ve told myself I won’t get my hopes up but every outlet has given me no choice but to be emotionally crushed when these kids pick Texas or Miami or whoever pays the most. Somebody please give me some negative news on these guys so I can channel my inner donutdawg and tamper my expectations again

He's been solid all year but man he's turned it on the last 8 games, with the Chargers going 6-2.

He's also catching almost everything they throw at him. He's had 55 targets, 45 catches, 695 yards, and 3 TD's. That's an 81.8% catch percentage which would only be behind Amon-Ra St. Brown's pace for the whole year. ( https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/highest-catch-percentage-wide-receiver ). He's killing it and an easy guy to cheer for for sure.

If you're frustrated with our lack of activity in the portal, just simmer down. For one, other than the Washington State QB, there aren't any real super stars in there. There are a bunch of nice to good players. As good as we make Singleton or Key out to be they both had 700ish yards receiving last year. Yes I know they didn't have ideal Qb's at either program but the numbers are what the numbers are. Ask yourself who in the portal right now is worth breaking the bank over to bring into your program and possibly blowup your team because of jealousy and infighting because they're getting paid more than anyone else? I don't see anyone who fits that description.
Kirby is great at a lot of things. I would say roster management is at or near the very top. Trust that if we do lose out on someone there is a plan.
This is also only the first wave of college free agents and more keep getting added to the list all the time. There will be another wave coming. So if we don't get something now we still can later. We didn't get Derion Kendrick until the summer if I'm not mistaken (I'm like 90% sure my memory hasn't failed me there but it's also finals week so....).

... UGA having James Brown at its disposal for practically the entirety of the 1970's and into the 1980's. The "Dooley's Junkyard Dogs" is a funk masterpiece that should STILL BE A STAPLE of the Redcoat Band's repertoire. To this day, there is no equivalent to James Brown. Some near copycats (think, Bruno Mars), but no equals.

Am proud to be of a vintage that saw The Godfather of Soul on a regular basis at Georgia games. Even got him to autograph a ballcap of mine. He wrote, "Soul Brother #1, James Brown, Go Dogs!"

The Chargers just did it vs the Broncos. First time in the NFL since the 70s.

As I watched Somto ferociously slam dunk on a poor Buffalo Bull's head last night, I became curious about how many dunks we've made this year compared to previous years.
2021-22: 54 made dunks
2022-23: 52 made dunks
2023-24: 82 made dunks
2024-25: 72 made dunks through 11 games. That puts us on pace to have nearly 200 dunks by the last game of the regular season.

Not that dunks is a stat that matters all that much, but I think it is a microcosm of the improvement of this roster over years past. Where do dunks come from? Fast breaks, forcing live ball turnovers, getting in the paint, offensive rebounds, lobs, and, generally speaking, just having big, athletic players.

The past few years we have been undersized, not very athletic, not great on the boards, and not very disruptive on defense. This years team is a total 180 from those trends and is both a breath of fresh air and a testament to the improvement in roster construction.

Blue and Silas are improved. Asa is as good as advertised. Turin took it to basket great and hit from outside. Somto is a beast inside. RJ is a dog!

No more easy drives to the basket for our opponents - Asa, Somto, RJ, and Abson will block it down their throat.

I’m sure a 40 point win is not going to be the norm, but what a start!

Buffalo is a terrible team but with NET every game is a chance to improve your ranking.

NET rankings are decided by two components, a résumé component and an efficiency component.

The résumé is simply about who you beat and who you lose to, adjusted for game location. The exact efficiency formula is unknown, but almost every efficiency in basketball is typically based around net points per 100 possessions, adjusted for strength of opponent.

All this to say, when people say “a win is a win”, that’s not the case anymore. A 40-pt win over a bad team vs a 20-pt win can make major differences. Some people argue that this is kind of stupid, and I’m not sure I disagree, but I’m not gonna complain because the efficiency metric LOVES us this year.

...Washington State QB - picked up by Oklahoma (together with his OC and QB coach)? ESPN reported it. Are you kidding me! Surely there's a better player in the portal than the QB of a PAC-2 school?! Yes, I know the PAC-2 will be more than 2 teams next year. (Full disclosure - I've not seen any film on him; just making this observation from his being on a lower-tier team.)

Yeah, it’s obvious - he had a double - double, but he had to work hard for that. Only 1 or 2 easy dunks.

He had 5 blocks and altered a bunch of other shots. He plays physically and hit the floor several times. There was a lot of contact underneath. …AND this was in a 50 point win. (He’s so big and strong, he doesn’t get enough “love” from the refs.)

He is developing his passing game and played the high post in the zone offense … and he moved the ball well.

I think his continued development is gonna be one of the keys to our success in the SEC!
