My son's success in Combat Dive school spurred the University of North Georgia folks to see if he wanted to go to other special schools.
So he will be the first senior military college cadet in 15 years to go to Ranger School this summer.
Fingers crossed.
They also let him sign up for Air Assult in Fort Moore during the Christmas break. It was going to be just him, and then it was three people. Before long, they had almost 30 cadets from UNG.
The school only sends kids in the summer. Thanks to Ali, they just had a ton of cadets get qualified midyear. Great policy going forward.
The real point of pride though was at graduation this morning.
The course ends with a 12-mile ruck that starts at 2:00 a.m. A full pack and 12 miles - you have three hours to complete it.
Ali Nabulsi finished first out of 234 soldiers with a time of 1:50. What's funny is that he beat three Rangert Instructors who will have his ass for 62 days this summer.
They gave him a plaque. They used to give a hatchet. Now I have to go find a hatchet because he didn't run that whole way to not get a hatchet.

Playing a hard schedule doesn't matter to the committee so i guess we should just schedule a bunch of patsy's to make sure we win them all.

Welcome to the Spin Zone Gump: Vandy and OU are not that bad. To me, a crap team would be a 3-4 loss team. If you play in the SEC and have 6 wins or more, then you are respectable. Not the best by any stretch, but respectable. Vandy pushed a lot of good teams to the brink this year. They were bound to win one of them, and we just so happened to be the one. As for Oklahoma, they have a very good defense, and that's what ultimately won them the game. Both of those teams would win 8-9 games on an ACC schedule.

Well, my interest in the playoff just went from "only a little bit of interest" to "no interest at all." Man, they are really making it increasingly difficult to even watch college football. I thought I would always be a die hard college football fan, but so many things are just garbage now.
