If the key to a great offense is explosives, then the running game is gonna take a back seat to passing in today's game...

Obviously you will need both to be a truly great offense, but this is why in my opinion the RB that flipped today is not a huge loss. Last team to win the national title where the running game and an elite RB were the clear focus was Bama in 2015. And Derrick Henry is a complete unicorn.

We almost did it in 2017.

Michigan did it last year with a big time running game and defense, but their RBs weren't elite playmakers. Solid, kind of like Zamir and Kenny Mac.

Just like the NFL is showing with their roster management and budgeting, there is no need to spend a crap load of NIL at the RB position on high school recruits. If you end up with a three star Jeanty type that was underrated? Yes, pay him once he proves it. But if what FSU spent on Kromah is true, Georgia would be crazy to match that or come close to it, even if we had the funds to do so.

My first in person game this season

Went real early to see warmups. I want to start there. Then move to the game. I was the first person thru my gate. Haha. My daughter loves to go early to games.

Oh Monty!!!!!!! Watched him make ten straight step back threes in warmups. He will be a guy who can easily create his own shot late in the clock. I said this in the preseason. Laffew and Monty are two of the most underrated transfers in the country. I hope I don’t build him up too much but I can’t wait for Monty to hit the court.

Rj can shoot the rock. Somto can shoot too. He has a terrific stroke. It was warmups but rj was making threes with ease. He can stretch the floor if they let him.

I can see what is going on with blue’s stroke. He has worked a corkscrew spin into his shot somehow. It has become too flat and he is fading out of his shot. he is really in his head at the moment. If he shot well no telling what we beat them by.

Newell can make threes. Saw him make several in a row in warmups. Savo shoots it very well also. Laffew is scary from there. Lawrence has done some work on his stroke. It still needs some work but it is so much better than when I saw him a few years ago.

Side note: never seen a team shoot it as well as Notre dame did from the perimeter in warmups. The whole team. They shot 70 percent in warmups. Easy.

The game:

Silas is an elite defender. He is incredibly physical. He guarded their three spot. A massive three too. He was banging with him. Then early in the game he made it hard for them to even get into the front court. He took one player totally out of the game. Never came back in. Good to see him hit a three.

Asa. It doesn’t come across on tv as much. But in person, he is so quick for his size. His first step, side to side and leaping is so lightning fast for his size. It is mouth dropping. He and rj are absolutely hell on the offensive boards.

We out rebounded these guys easily. We didn’t shoot it well from deep, but we still clobbered them. Defense and not turning over the ball was so fun to watch. We got great looks all night. We are hell on defense man. And we are physical. Really physical.

It is so very hard for me to post this. I don’t know how to feel about how good this team can be at times. The refs were absolutely pathetic. Outside of Leffew we shot the ball horribly from the arc. I know how we beat ucf so bad. If the game was reffed evenly, and we shoot it well from the arc we win by 40. That isn’t an exaggeration. Blue was worth ten of those points by himself. We missed our first 6 shots from deep out of the gate. Still won by 21. Just freaking damn!!!

Last but not least. Leffew is a scorer. He can score anytime he wants. He plays solid defense as well. We run some outstanding sets too out of timeouts. We worked hard on out of bounds plays. You could see it.

That was as enjoyable experience as I have had watching the dawgs in the steg in a really, really long time. Long way to go. The sec is terrific. But these guys are not going to be an easy out for anybody.

Good Morning Dawg Nation

Happy Hump Day!!

I knew it!! I knew the CFPC would make a spot for Bama. Unreal. No, actually, it's very real....has been very real for a while now. Just thought that maybe it was Saban that got all the special treatment, but nope, it's just Bama. Oh well. Just win Dawgs

The only thing we can control is our own games and our own destiny. Just gotta win one game at a time.
I did read slobbered's (I believe) post on a good practice Monday so I'm hoping that trend continues. Hoping the guys are ready and hungry. We HAVE to win. Obviously not everyone HAS to....we do.

Very nice visor @Golden Boy !!

Good to see @Savannah Dawgette @PawPawDawg @EufaulaDawg and @slobbered here yesterday!!

How significant is NIL in the pros?

I know big name free agents tend to gravitate towards the larger markets for more exposure and money making activities… but are there any instances where private business has used endorsements and such to lure big time athletes to their favorite professional sports teams?

If not, can we expect pay to play to end NIL enticements from fans and boosters?

… because I don’t see it ending.

Georgia and slow starts

Whether it’s on offense or defense we’ve seemed to be asleep on one or both sides of the ball in the first half. I’m thinking if we can just be tied going into halftime or down one possession we will be ok as we are resilient. I’m very afraid of digging a hole against this Texas defense. We didn’t honestly play well against them on offense and I think a two score lead at the half and it’s lights out this isn’t Tech. I’m not expecting many points Sat. I’d say around 17-24 max for our offense.

best way to pick playoff teams?

There are so many ways that have been discussed--the old BCS system, current committee system etc

I personally like the SOR ( Strength of record ) to pick the teams at the end of the year. Take the conference champions and then the next 8 spots go to the best SOR.

Obviously for SOR to work you have to have the other rankings ( AP and Coaches polls ) and could throw in the BCS computers to accomplish the same thing.

Honestly, I think the BCS method was great if you expand it to the 12 team format we currently have.
