I'm asking out of pure ignorance, but is the market rate for parking passes now $200+?

I bought tickets to this weekend's game for 8 people and am broke as a church mouse now lol. I think I could have taken my family on a beach vacation to PCB cheaper than game tickets. I understand that the premium parking passes can command $200+ but is that the going rate for other lots? The whole cost of going to games now amazes me. I go to way more road games than I do home games and am out of the loop. I just assumed we would be able to find parking spots for $50 but apparently I am still living in the 90's. Am I completely wrong in this?

What is a good alternative for parking on gameday besides buying a UGA-issued pass?

Official Austin Recommendations Thread - Food, Drink, Things To Do, Etc.

Somehow I don't believe the Vent has had a thread yet with recommendations on places to eat, drink, hang out, things to do, etc for next weekend's big trip to Austin.

Please drop your suggestions below, as these threads have been very helpful in the past when I've traveled for Dawg games (and just in general to other cities and countries).

Thx and Go Dawgs!

Can someone please explain this to me? We all recruit the same exact kids and I know for a fact that other programs

have arrangements with the campus pd and local pd to handle these situations. I have a friend of 30 years who was a kicker at Bama. I have family members who are big boosters at Auburn. Saban had a deal with local PD and campus PD where they would contact a guy at Bama when any minor crimes took place and if it were more serious Saban would even get involved and he would tell them I will punish them worse than anything you will do by locking them up. It didn't take a lot of arm-twisting cause the PD is all fellow Bama cult members anyway. Same way it was handled at Auburn too.

You can't convince me the same exact thing that we have happening with our program is not happening at Ohio State, Michigan. Texas etc.. I would think Kirby after 2 natty's would be able to make the same type of arrangement in Athens. Why hasn't he?

Big match for volleyball as they host 10K day tonight.

Very interested to see how this plays out. I know the athletic department has been pretty proactive of getting the word and and promoting this event for a bit now. Looks like they’re doing a lot of things before match tonight to help gets fans excited and bring them in.

The team has not been really dominant in conference play this season. Seems to be a bit of a disappointment so far (0-3 in conference and 6-5 overall, sitting dead last I believe).. I do think the fans will show up tonight. Will they get 10k? Probably not but a lot of Stegeman (I think) will be full. The team really needs to cash in on this promotional game and get a win tonight. I think Black is a good coach (I don’t know much about volleyball recruiting) but I think he recruits fairly well. It just seems like we’re always middle of pack to lower in the conference when it comes to conference standings. Feel like this is a big moment for the program. Can’t let fans down if they come out and show out for this event. Team needs to find a way to get the W tonight. Go Dawgs!

Georgia playing Miss St always has a special place

in my heart.

I didn't grow up a Georgia fan. Moved to Georgia from Long Island, NY when I was 9. We didn't follow college football much (although I remember when I was 4, my dad talking about Herschel, but I digress). I was a Jets fan, sadly.

I sort of slowly began following college football over the years, and hopped on the Tech bandwagon during their shared NC year.

I started at UGA in '94, but of course the '94 season sucked. Then, in '95, I began to try to get more into it, but Edwards and Bobo got hurt, so I found it hard to truly invest (again, I didn't grow up a fan).

In '97, I committed to enjoying the game day atmosphere and the team, and when we annihilated Miss St 47-0, I was hooked. Of course we lost to UTjr next, but it didn't matter. I have truly bled red and black ever since.

Anyway, this is a long, boring way to say that playing MSU always reminds me of the time I became a Bulldog through and through.

Interesting Convo with an AU Alum

I hate AU as much as anyone, but living in Columbus, I do come in contact with a lot of AU grads/fans and they aren't all bad. That said, was talking with an exec in my company who is an AU grad. I asked him his opinion of Hugh Freeze. He said he didn't like his character and would have preferred someone who was high in character. However, he said the role of a football coach was to win games. So if he wins games, then he could overlook his character. However, if he doesn't win games, then there's no reason for him to be there.

I thought that was an interesting rationalization for having a sleezebag be the face of your team. But the main thing that I took away from that is how lucky we are. We have both. We have a high character man who also wins. In spite of the issues caused by some of our players, there's no way Kirby is condoning or excusing that behavior. I'm sure he's doing everything he can think of to remedy those issues. And, he's still putting a team on the field that will compete for a national championship.

We are lucky. As a program, we aren't perfect, but what program is? But we are lucky and need to appreciate what we have. It won't be here forever.
