Per ZA, but he’s no longer a candidate. My guess is he wanted to bring in his people, and UF isn’t willing to part with Harris & Chatman. Muschamp as DC would have been very very interesting, likely grand slam.

On Branchs

- they actually gave the word they was coming about a week ago. But held off announcing so it made me feel a little uneasy esp with such a higher profile target.. but I mean, who doesn’t wanna have a New Year’s party in Miami? (Except me lol)
Also, Dane Key said he was coming and flaked when Neb dropped a huge bag on him.. so it’s natural to be skeptical in the portal era.

- Ethan O’Conner almost chose UGA at the end.. Miami was tampering hard with Xavier Lucas and wanted to allocate the funds there but Wisconsin wouldn’t file his paperwork (Miami also thinks he will eventually win out and get in portal - relationship is ruined at Wisconsin now anyways).

- Feel like this doesn’t directly affect Adrian Maddox.. UGA really likes him. Could he get scared off from Zion? Maybe. But UGA still wants him, a lot of ppl think he’s an NFL talent…

- I think UGA had a VERY good visit with Noah Thomas.. sooner the better for UGA there.

- Will be some more defections the next 3 or 4 days, just gotta accept that. Wouldn’t surprise me if UGA tried to add another QB… will see

Dawgs in the Pros Top Dawgs include a couple of 1,100-yard rookie receivers and Cook achieves what only six Bulldogs have...

...also, good to see Jordan Davis end the regular season like he did after his playing time had started to decrease.

After Cook became just the seventh former Georgia player to have multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons, Swift nearly accomplished the same. Maybe next season.

Check out our Top Dawgs for this week. What do y'all think?

I have been a Falcons fan since their inception in 1966…..

because they were Atlanta’s NFL team and Georgia’s team. I have cheered them through the good times and suffered with them through the bad, and there have been a lot more bad than good. But this Falcons’ team, and specifically today’s game, have me more frustrated than I’ve ever been as a Falcons fan.

The whole lot of the coaching staff and the GM need to be fired. I was hoping against hope when Raheem Morris was hired that he might get the job done, just as I was hoping against hope that the GM Fontenot would get the job done, but nothing could be farther from the truth. They are pathetic, and the defensive coordinator is even more pathetic. Arthur Blank needs to fire them all tomorrow, but he won’t because he’s part of the problem.

They have a great young group of offensive players in Michael Penix, Bijan Robinson and the WR #5. BUT EVERYBODY ELSE IS EXPENDABLE. (They have some pretty good football players on the team, but they might have to be discarded to get the salary cap under control). This mess might not be straightened out until Arthur Blank sells the team. And whoever is responsible for signing Cousins to that ultra rich contract, just coming off an Achilles surgery, needs to be the first one fired!

Slow starts and low scoring first halves wasn't just this year....

I think most would agree that we need (and will probably see) some level of change on the offense heading into spring of this year. I sure hope so anyway. I recall sitting at the UAB game in 2023 and it being a somewhat frustrating slow start in the 1st quarter after coming off that scare against SC. So I went back and looked at the first half scores by quarter for 2023 in addition to the numbers I put together for 24. Easy to forget that we had numerous slow starts and close games in the first halves in 2023. I think the discussion about our scripted series not being great goes back further than just this past year. Brock and Ladd (and MRJ) helped cover up a lot of deficiencies even then. FWIW, here's the breakdown.

UGA 2023-24 first half points by quarter:

Tenn Martin - 7 10
Ball State - 0 31
SC - 3 0
UAB - 7 21
Auburn - 0 10
UK - 14 20
Vandy - 7 17
UF - 10 16
Mizz - 3 7
Ole Miss - 14 14
UT - 10 14
GT - 7 14
Bama - 7 0
FSU - 7 35

UGA 2024-25 first half points:

Clemson 6
Tenn Tech 24
Kentucky 3
Bama 7
Auburn 14
Miss St 27
Texas 23
Florida 6
Ole Miss 7
Tenn 17
Umass 28
GT 0
Texas 3
ND 3

Way too early 2025 depth chart

Here is what (as far as my best guesstimation) the 2025 depth chart could look like. This is before portal additions so this is due to change.

Offense

X- If I had to say someone now, I'd say CJ Wiley or Elyiss Williams. Probably a portal player (hopefully the Texas A&M big wideout). I typically would never project a freshman to start but our wide receiver room is that dire.
Z- Zach Branch. Solid starter. Should be a big upgrade.
Slot- Dillonn Bell by default. This will hopefully also be someone in the portal.
TE- Delp/Luckie
Overall, there is cause for excitement here. Branch can be electric. This is by far our best recruiting class in YEARS. Coley is really having a big impact on the program and it's going to show up big time. Maybe not as much next year, but our receivers should be a strength of a the team soon. Our tight end group really took a step back. Delp is a former top recruit; I did not see him having such a lackluster year. Barbour is going to have an opportunity to come in and play quickly. If you watched the state championship game I thought he was the best player on the field.

LT- Freeling
LG- Fairchild
C-Wilson
RG- Morris
RT- Earnest Greene
As a whole, our interior should be the strength of the line. The biggest questions are on the edges. Freeling had been playing well until the game against Notre Dame. I am not an Ernest Greene fan and I'd be saying all year that after wideout, he was our biggest weakness. Hopeful for a portal addition here but I'm not going to hold my breath.

RB-Etienne, Frazier
QB- Stockton
I'm happy with this group. Etienne and Frazier can be our best running attack since Swift. Both are very good and could be near elite if giving better line play. For the one game fishbowl, I thought Stockton looked like someone we can win with. He has a CANNON, isn't afraid to take shots down the field. He does need to clean up his mechanics instead of dropping the ball down before throwing; that led to two fumbles in the SEC championship game and against ND.

DE-Xavier McLeod.
NT-Jordan Hall
DT- Cristen Miller
I feel good about this group. It goes to a really good group if TID comes back. Long gone are the days where we had 5 first round picks rotating on the defensive line, I don't think that will ever exist again. All had a good amount of playing time last year and played well.

Jack-Damon Wilson.
SLB- Chris Cole/ Justin Williams
MLB- CJ Allen
WLB- Raylen Wilson
Damon *should* be and could be our next elite edge rusher. He played well down the stretch. Was he good because of Mykel and Jalon or was he good on his own? That will still be seen. I think CJ and Raylen are just above average; they haven't made any elite plays and I don't know if they're capable. They're a lot more Keith Brooking than real difference makers. Chris Cole played more early and then lost playing time later which I thought was odd. They really like him in coverage.
This group will have a little drop off just because of losing 2 high 1st round picks.

Corner- Ellis Robinson, Daniel Harris. It sounds like Everette is turning pro.
Star- Aguero
FS- Bolden
SS- Peal?
If Everette turns pro that's a big loss. I know the vent is divided on him. Dude does get called for a PI a lot but he also makes a lot of big plays. Ellis is unproven. Daniel Harris played above average but I don't know if either of them can be "the guy." Bolden is a really good player. He is our next Starks. Aguero seems to be just a guy, solid but unspectacular. Safety across from Bolden is our biggest question mark on defense. Not having an elite recruit anywhere in the secondary this last season really is going to hurt.
