NonDawg Actual Conversation With My FSU Cousin...

well, an actual Facebook conversation with him anyway. I checked Facebook and this post of his popped up:

"That was flat out bad.

FSU in for a rough season."

Me: Will they acknowledge the loss though? They still refuse to acknowledge the last one.

Him: Stop with that clownery, lol.

Me: The clownery is that they STILL claim to have been undefeated last season.

Him: We were. Season is not the same as post season.

Me: OK man. Now you can just say you're undefeated in the United States.

Him: Weird but 👍

Random FSU Friend of His: FSU was undefeated in the USA last season. That's why they call it regular season and post season.

That's some crazy shit. I just dropped it but I should have said we were undefeated in the regular season last year too but we didn't make any T-shirts or rings for it.

Dabo’s area of focus?

Dabo built a great staff and over time developed Clemson into a powerhouse from 2014-2019. Then his OC (Tony Elliott) and DC (Brent Venables) left and the program has declined ever since. The odd part is everyone blames Dabo’s approach with portal, but maybe it’s more that Dabo isn’t really a good offensive or defensive coach? I feel that if any of UGA’s DC’s left, Kirby could hire a monkey and still have a top 10 defense.

A nice way to get Smart's career started

29 years ago today... I like mentioning how Kirby was setting unofficial school records in his very first game—and after coming off the bench.

At free safety, Smart was the backup to Corey Johnson (who leveled SC's Zola Davis on a pass over the middle in the opening quarter). Smart following the game: "I was real fortunate. Coach Kines (defensive coordinator Joe Kines) called my number several times and I just took advantage of that. The biggest difference was our pass rushing. We went after them more in the second half. This was a nice way to get my career started."

After the three-sack performance, Smart totaled 2.5 sacks in 43 games at Georgia.
