The New Year's Bowls show why the CFP is great

Rose Bowl: Oregon v Ohio State
Sugar Bowl: UGA v Notre Dame
Fiesta Bowl: Boise State v Penn State
Peach Bowl: Arizona State v Texas

If you replace "Peach" with "Cotton," the upcoming quarterfinals could have been major bowl matchups from 35 years ago.

But the day after the last bowl was played, the fans of the winning teams would be frustrated wondering how their team would fare against the others. Now, we don't have to speculate - we get to see major bowl winners face off.

As a lifelong college football fan, this is a dream come true.

The two biggest things the media is getting wrong about Georgia

1- Lots of talking heads continually return to the talking point that Georgia hasn't run the ball well this year. But the biggest reasons for that are that Broderick Robinson and Branson Robinson have missed almost the entire season and Etienne has been really banged up too. We've also had less serious injuries across the O-Line. On New Year's Night, all those guys will be back, healthy, rested, and ready.

2- More broadly, Georgia has physical practices and a physically demanding schedule. But history says that if you give Kirby 3-4 weeks to rest and heal his team, the Dawgs are pretty damn good. That's one reason why Kirby has lost just one bowl game in his first eight seasons and is 5-1 in playoff games.

ND wants Georgia. And they're going to get Georgia.

While I’m in a posting mood ,

Let’s go a little old school on offense … we don’t have the super elite WRs but we now most likely have a full complement of TEs , OLs and RBs . Let’s bring back a fullback at times other than the goal line and play a little smash mouth football . Play action off that to the TEs and try to pop one deep. Wouldn’t mine seeing Dillon Bell in the wildcat either . We have the defense to win this thing but offensively we need to score more points .

For those who know Bama and Ole Miss would beat Indiana and SMU

So, you're certain Bama would beat Indiana.
Right before the game, how confident were you that Alabama would beat Vanderbilt?
How confident were you that Alabama would beat Oklahoma?

You know for certain Ole Miss would beat SMU.
Did you believe Ole Miss would beat Kentucky?
How about Florida?

You got all four of those games wrong. I did too.

When you think of Bama and Ole Miss, you think only of teams that beat Georgia. You're not thinking of the Bama that got punked 24-3 by a team headed for the Wet Diaper Bowl. You don't think about the Ole Miss that lost to THREE unranked teams.

We don't really know what would happen even in conference games, much less cross-conference games. So let's stop acting like it's all so obvious.

Ok , siap,

But now it’s time to reseed the remaining teams . The committee rewarded the conference champions for winning the extra game and gave some extraordinary uncompetitive games . Now , it’s time to do the right thing and reseed . Fortunately, Georgia has been given a very doable path to the national championship game . Oregon , on the other hand, has to play a very good Ohio State team followed most likely a very good Texas team. IMHO ,

Oregon vs Arizona State
Ohio State vs Boise State
Texas vs Notre Dame
Georgia vs Penn State

Happy to take my meds on my Tennessee pick

I had a hunch, despite Ohio State being at home and having the better roster, that Tennessee could beat them. I think Texas is soft and I don’t think Oregon has been tested sufficiently. I had a hunch Tennessee might make it to the finals but I wouldn’t have bet any money on it.

Instead, they didn’t show up in the first game. The $20 million roster won when they were embarrassed and desperate and at home. Should have seen it coming.

I’ve had an amazing percentage of correct predictions this season (I predicted our entire regular season in wins and losses….and the only game I lost money on was Auburn/Cal), but i whiffed on this one.
