Solution to the overtime rule....

Let me preface this by saying I HATE the "penalty kicks" format. It's a coin toss way to decide a game and we very easily could have lost that coin toss. It especially favors the weaker team by putting everyone as close as possible to the goal line. My simple solution is as follows:

Instead of starting teams at the 25 yd line in the first OT. Just start at the 50. Then run the same rules that we used to have form there. It eliminates a team from being able to go 3 and out and just kick a 42 yard field goal to extend the game. If you stop your opponent, then you still have to put some plays together to get your self in field goal range. Make going for 2 mandatory to help avoid the 8 OT stuff. You will have less OT periods, but I'm willing to bet less plays overall, or at least a reasonable amount of plays and the winner will have actually earned it.

Somebody tell me why this is a terrible idea.

Why I am not worried about Texas

1. People keeping saying 30-15. Game easily could gave been 40-7 - gift TD, Becks play, FGs, etc..
2. As much as I hate the things we did wrong in the GT game, easily could have rolled over and taken the mulligan knowing we were in with the SEC win. Both team and coaching staff have hearts of champions. If I was UT that we scare the crap out of me.
3. Still think UT is a bit of smoke and mirrors (see #1 and played no other ranked teams). A&M sucks. They gave up 40 plus to SC and LSU late in the year. Their OC play calling was right there with Bobo. Those 2 4th down stops were on him for running the same play. Plus their QB was horrible.

SECC

Man I’m itching for this week to be over. I can’t get the game out of my mind. I have mixed feelings about it, but have a lot of confidence in Carson in Atlanta. The team has played there a lot and he has a lot of confidence.

Defensively, I think Ewers makes it easier on us, but I totally expect Arch to have packages. We need big games from the ILBs and OLBs. I have a feeling the running backs and Helm will be used a lot to try and mitigate our pass rush.

The team has been up and down all year. I’m still holding out hope they can put a full game together. Either way, the last few weeks don’t matter. Just look at what Bama did in the title game last year.

The last point. Our coach is the one who has been in these moments. He’s familiar with postseason play and what the SEC title means. Horns Down

Best way to make a name for yourself...

Best way to make a name for yourself

In Georgia, start a small business, grow it steadily over time, and draw on a team of smart people to build it into a multi-billion-dollar corporation.

In California, max out your credit cards, make your movie for $400K, and then watch it bring in $25 million.

In Alabama, give yourself a dumbass nickname, call into the Finebaum Show, and yell at Pawl for three minutes like some dimwitted, country-fried moron.

NonDawg 100 Years of Solitude

Considered one of the greatest novels of the 20th century, "100 Years of Solitude" is finally making it to the screen.

The early reviews are very good. I am really excited about this one.

Jacket tears…..

I wish I had anything positive to say, but I don't. I still can't put a positive spin on it like some of you have, and I'm not sure I ever will be able to. No blame for coaches, players or refs from me, just hurt.

Makes me wonder as a fan if we will ever beat Georgia because if you can't win a game like that last night then we might never be able to. Dominated the game and still lost. Sickening.

Asleep around 1am
Woke up at 4:45 and couldn't go back to sleep.
Devastated

I’m with you brother. I was up at 230. I’m up now. When I woke up I let out a groan as if somehow I realized this wasn’t a nightmare. It seems so unfair that we found another remarkable way to lose to them.

So…so…so many chances to win this game.
Even when we were up by 14 late, I didn’t feel comfortable. I just have no real expectations of winning this game anymore. It’s always something…

I'm going to go throw up.... I'm 33, and I've never seen us beat uga in person and I only remember us winning 3 times....

F those refs, f Kirby Smart and it sucks to lose the game because we should have 100% won it

Complete team failure. Batt should go to SC. Athletics programs is garbage.

Tomorrow morning, go find the biggest stick you can find in your backyard. Once you find it, bend over and **** yourself with it.

Personally I’m finding this one harder to take than I can ever remember. Just as devastated this morning 😞

Got home around 2. Slept for maybe an hour. Hurting this morning. Thought of every scenario over and over and just can’t sleep. That was a miserable way to lose. I’ve watched the second to last OT possession over and over again, if Haynes gives it to Jamal it’s over. There’s so many ifs but the game isn’t played on ifs. I think Buster and Key coached circles around Kirby and Schu all night up until OT.

It's an old, familiar pain.

Overall, they’re pissed. But certainly optimistic about the future.

CFP Predictions

I know there are many opinions and so called experts throwing scenarios around but i honestly think 11 of the 12 spots are taken.

My take

1. Oregon if they win or Texas with a win and Oregon loss. If both lose, it should be ours over Penn st
2. SEC winner if Oregon wins. Penn St if they win
3. SMU with a win or Boise if clemson wins
4. Boise State if they win and SMU wins. Big 12 champ if BS losses
5. Notre Dame. Don’t like it but I think committee gives it to them as pseudo reward
6. Big 10 loser (almost an “automatic” seed for making the championship. No way the conferences that created/agreed to this new system will allow their runner up to be punished)
7. SEC loser ( Same as above)
8. And 9. Tennessee and Ohio St. Can’t argue either way unless the committee really does try to avoid possible rematches. (Oregon vs OSU or UGA vs UTjr. 2nd rd. Don’t think it’s possible to avoid or predict)
10. Indiana. Reward for winning against a very weak schedule
11. Big 12 champ if Boise wins
12. This is where it gets sketchy. South Carolina? Bama? Miami? ACC loser? Personally I think Carolina is playing the best football but hard to keep the Bama name out. If Clemson wins, SMU should be in this conversation.

There could be some discussion around the outcomes of ACC, and the G5 games but I think it’s over 1 maybe 2 spots. If the above is accurate, the 5 or 6 seed is actually more desirable than most

GM's in college football

Interesting conversation today with a co-worker who I consider a pretty smart dude. He said the new wave will be each school will have a GM for football (and if good enough - basketball) just like Stanford and others are doing. College football is essentially becoming a mini NFL so makes sense to me. We were talking about Kirby and how burnt out he has to be with all of the burdens of the job. If you could find a GM to handle NIL, transfer portal, lead overall recruiting boards, etc. just think how much time that could save a head coach to focus on the X's and O's and do what they truly love. The question would be - who would UGA look at for that type of role?

Let's give KCKD some time off with some #TechTears...

I’m still mad and I will never get over this...It hurts so much bros, how do we move on?

It’ll take time. It’s not going to be easy to get over because we got absolutely ööööed by the refs when we had it in the bag, but it’ll happen eventually.

I just texted my group text that I'm still so pissed and I feel like a whiny bitch, but I really don't know how this anger passes before we play them again.

I’m almost ashamed at how much I have let this game affect me. Nothing less than “soul crushing” can describe. You are not alone

Same. Usually after a loss, I’m fine. “Bummer. That’s life.” And back to reality of working, being a dad etc. I can’t let this one go though because we got repeatedly screwed.

Bury those feelings deep down in your stomach. Be a man.

I never expect us to beat them. That’s my armor. We didn’t prevail, and while I hate that we didn’t, I can shrug it off. Make no mistake… we embarrassed them. We dominated them for most the game and they needed 8 OTs and biased refs to stave off the upset at home. Them with their #7 rank and us coming in a lowly 7-4. Anyone comes barking in your face remind them we were one missed FG or one unfavorable penalty away from an outright upset. How embarrassing for them!

In 1961 in Birmingham, Bama's Darwin Holt shattered the jaw of Tech's Chic Granning, and no penalty ensued and Bear never apologized for it. In 1962 in Atlanta, when I was a rat and didn't even know who Darwin Holt was, Grant Field was packed to the rafters a good 30 minutes before kickoff, and the student section was packed an hour before kickoff. All through the game, the entire Tech section, adults and students, chanted "Remember Darwin Holt, Remember Darwin Holt. It was the most intense atmosphere I have ever encountered in a football game, or probably anything else. It was a close game all the way, but Tech won it, in spite of the emergence of Joe Namath as a star QB for the Tide. I say, we buy as many tickets as we can for next year at the Benz and at least half-fill it with Tech fans wanting revenge. Let's pay them back for this atrocity and make their fans suffer like hell for it, not to mention their coaches and players. Let the chant be something like "Remember '24, Remember '24"
TO EFFIN' HELL WITH GEORGIA!!!!!

This feels worse than the divorce

This has been the most difficult sporting event for me to try to move on from in at least 15 years. And that includes 28-3 as a Falcons fan. It's easy to say öööö like, "We'll let this fuel us and we'll come back next year and beat them." But the reality is, that may be true... or it may not. UGA is unfortunately one of the few elite programs now, and they will always have the upper hand on us from a depth perspective. It hurts so damn bad to let one slip away (or more accurately, have one taken away) when it should've been won because you just never know when it'll be within our grasp again. I do think a lot about 2013 and how I felt many of the same feelings then (even though, for some reason, this game was much harder to process). And then 2014 happened. And I can see a path to the same type of 2025 for us next year. I say all that to say this: DAMN it feels good to HATE the dawgs again. Did I always hate them? Yes. But for so long all we had was a furious sense of indignation that they had pulled so far ahead of us as we rooted for our fledgling, despairing program. Not anymore. We're on the ööööing rise and we're going to beat their asses one day very, very soon.

We can't beat the refs though.
